Encore Pro Software

Post by SleepingBetterNow » Mon Sep 03, 2007 7:26 pm

I have a Respironics M Series BIPAP Auto and I'm currently using Encore Pro 1.6. Could anyone tell me if there are significant improvements or new features to make it worth spending another $300 for Encore Pro version 1.8? Thanks in advance.

I don't know about any of this stuff yet as I am a brand new cpap user but I can tell you that I searched the internet and only found the Encore Pro Software ver.1.8i available for sale at one place and the bundle package is $ 169.00 and you can find it at DirectHomeMedical.com. If you go there be sure to type in SOFTWARE or you will not be able to find it, also it will say that it is the v1.6i version but it isn't, it is indeed the new version 1.8i and it is Windows Vista compatable. I ordered it and I called them and they haven't made the correction on their website yet. It won't be available to the patients/public after they have sold what they have left so if you want it, i'd suggest u get it now before they r all gone... Where did you find yours for $ 300.00 ? What is the web address??? Please post your reply and keep us posted

Sleeping,

My understanding is that the only differences between the versions are that only ver 1.8 will a) run on Window Vista and b) work with the relatively new A-Flex machines. Neither of these are issues for you, so keep your money in your pocket!

It's my understanding that 1.8i v1.8.49 is not truly Vista compatible, but does handle A-FLEX. It handles it well, from my layperson view.

And that the newest version of 1.8i v1.8.65 is Vista compatible, but not all vendors still listing the software for sale have the newest version yet. At least, not the vendor in Australia where I bought mine from. I have read that some people on the board have the latest version of 1.8i.

Nodzy, I haven't heard of issues with 1.8.49 and Vista issues. Are you sure? People were using this version with Vista well before the new version came out at the very end of July.

It's possible that I misread... or remember erroneous info. So much input, too few clerks to file it all properly between my ears.

1.8.49 definitely works with Vista.

Amen to that. I spent $187 to get rid of a Sony Laptop because of Vista. Circuit City only had Vista on their laptops when mine died. Long story, they
gave me an incredible refund, so I bought there.

After 4 days of misery, including Gate's idiots ...you can get support on emails, so I did. About the 5th question in is "Type your key number here" --- I did.
Vista, in its infinite wisdom, told me that key number was taken, would I like to buy another? Sony found me a lady in the orient who walked me thru 4 hours of reformatting the hard drive.

A couple more screw ups like that and I took it back. Dell had computers with
XP and with the refund for the Sony, I bought TWO Dell 6400s. My wife was now happy too...her old Compaq wouldn't die, it outlasted 2 Toshiba laptops.

Vista will be stable, reliable some day, then I will buy it again.
Installing Software is like pushing a rope uphill.
I have Encore Pro 1.8.65 but could not find it listed
under software.

I LOVE the SV.

Vista and 1.8.49

Post by mindy » Wed Sep 05, 2007 12:01 pm

The only "issue" with Vista and version 1.8.49 that I've found is that when you start it up it displays a message that it is running in "compatibility mode" which in this case seems to mean the it's not using the normal Vista colors!

This same "compatibility mode" issue with the second version (v1.8.65) when running it in Vista. Personally, I can't even tell the difference in the screen or colors. So that was NOT a fix to the new version.

My 1.8+ is on the way. No prescription necessary. I am getting a computer with Vista next month, thought I would get this before the prices changed or it became unavailable everywhere.

Thanks so much for the info on where to get it.
