Hmmm, that's interesting because when my DME and I discussed it last year, she didn't say anything about having to qualify for an APAP. I guess I'll have to give her a call to ask. Mind you, I can't get a new machine of any sort at all until next year.
yeah, i'm pretty sure these are NEW guidelines, as in june or july...crappy, for sure, if you need/want to use ADP money; but even in my case, where just buying the whole setup from cpap.com and spending less than 'upgrading' what i have now, my doc wouldn't prescribe it anyway; so if your dr. will prescribe it and you're willing to pay the whole whack, it doesn't apply to you...better yet, you could use your cpap rx on cpap.com and still get an auto...it's only really relevant if you're applying for ADP (better yet, if you are willing to buy the whole thing outright, you wouldn't have to wait for your year to be up, just get the rx from the dr. and order it online)
But it's only been less than 2 weeks and the doctor's sheet did say to expect a month. So I'm trying to be patient. But I don't do patience well
be a good girl, frapilu! after only two weeks it's probably still swollen and healing...are you back to work yet? hope you're feeling the full effects soon...it might not be as dramatic as having the stents yanked out and breathing freely that minute, but i'm sure it'll come

Yup, definitely crappy. I might try to play on the fact that a follow-up sleep study I had about a year ago said very clearly that I needed a pressure of 11. Then less than a month after that, because I didn't believe the pressure they said, I had my GP give me a prescription for an APAP trial. With this, my DME lent me an APAP for a couple of weeks. The reports out of that very clearly said that I needed a pressure of 13.8. I brought that report back to the sleep study doctor and he was baffled but wrote me a new prescription for 13.8 for my cpap because he said the results of the APAP were very clear. I can try getting him to prescribe an APAP given that discrepancy.

Yeah, well I DID say that patience isn't my strong suite Technically I would be back at work tomorrow except that now I'm on vacation for a week So I'll be back in the office on Sept 10. Then, oh joy, oh joy, my employ and I get to pack our fileroom of over 10,000 files for a move that's happening on the weekend of Sept 21st. Oh well, such is life. For my nose, there definitely is improvement because last night I slept all night with the HC406 mask. Haven't been able to do that in perhaps 2 years.

it sounds like your dr. will be on your side about prescribing apap...i think that will be all you need...fingers crossed

i'm glad to hear you have another week off...enjoy your vacation! but when you are packing up that file room, you won't be doing any lifting will you? because i think that might still be too soon...not trying to mother you or anything

i start back to work tomorrow after 8 weeks off...bleh ...but i guess it'll be good to get back into a routine

take good care, and have fun with that week off

I tried telling the ENT doctor this but he wasn't interested. I'll be making an effort not to do too much lifting because I'm terrified of getting a heavy bleed like JeffH had.

I guess I haven't been around much so I didn't know about you being off. You've been off because you've been sick? Hope you're feeling better?

Take care, you too.

Sharon,

Oops, forget that question. I just remembered that you work for a school so you've been off for the summer.

Sorry.
