Mako card reader

Post by mindy » Fri Aug 31, 2007 7:19 pm

Hi,

I have Encore Pro 1.8 and the Mako "Infineer" card reader. I also have Windows Vista (and yes, I know some people don't think we should upgrade to this .... but I do like it and I've usually been an early adopter).

Now for the problem: when I install the driver on the CD that came with it, I get a Windows error that says the INF file is missing the first line or has an invalid first line.

I've gone through all kinds of aggravations getting to this point and the last thing standing between me and tracking my treatment is the driver for the card reader.

Any suggestions would be *much* appreciated!!

Mindy

Mako reader

Hey Mindy,

I just got my package from Hong Kong on Wednesday with the reader! I had read elsewhere not to use the drivers that come on the reader CD. Unfortunately, I read this after I had installed them, so I uninstalled and used the drivers on the Encore Pro CD instead. There is a directory on the Encore CD, \smart card readers\vista drivers.

PM if you need assistance.

So close you can feel it, I know. Seeing the graph pop up from my data card was cool stuff!!!

Hey Rusty and SleepDeprived,

Thanks *much* for the help! I had a separate CD with Respironics drivers on it but they are obviously out of date. I hadn't thought to look on the EncorePro CD and they sure are there

It's now installed and I think I'll go get some sleep and try it out tomorrow.

Now I can be really dangerous

Mindy

You will probably have to go into Encore Pro, preferences and change from SERIAL to USB, Their progammer, still drives a horse cart to work. Jim

Jim,

Thanks ... luckily I had found it (after experiencing the disappearing driver problem). This old dinosaur programmer has seen much of the good, the bad and the ugly in programming. Encore Pro fits somewhere in the mid range (so far). I found the posts yesterday about fixing the disappearing driver but suspect there's a third way which I'll try today after I recuperate from my trials of yesterday.

EncorePro wouldn't install at all on my 64-bit Vista Ultimate so I had to break in a new computer with 32-bit Vista to run it (wanted the baby laptop anyway) so this has felt like a loooong process. It's scary to think I used to do this kind of stuff every day for years for a "big iron" mainframe, lol.

You may also need the "fix" that is now my tagline to try to spread the word around that you don't have to struggle with "card reader not found" messages.
