Is this related to the BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) well known to computer types? Maybe it's the BBOD? Except that if you have a dreaded BLUE BUTTON it probably tells a tech that the machine is in fact NOT dead.

Yeah -- the direcTV DVR is the same. Huge blue circle and a bright blue LED showing that it's on.....Fortunately you can record with the whole thing turned off so the blue lights are really only on while there is other light in the room....

I can't believe the response Jen got to her inquiry. What a bunch of arrogant AH's........I'll take a day or two and compose a "What you smokin'" note or maybe "You BS your friends and I'll BS mine, but let's not BS each other -- ok??"

Sheesh....what do we have to do, call the local TV station's consumer assist line to get any attention from these maroons??
Ha!! That would frost 'em!!!!!

cheers

I find the blue light annoying too and I just cover it with a cute fuzzy orange washcloth. When I wake up and want to turn off the machine I just swipe it off.

ROTFL!!!!

"they were put there for technical troubleshooting"

Well, I guess it's a good thing those lights (no mention of the color) were "put there." I suppose if the lights don't come on when the machine is plugged in, the repair tech would know the machine wasn't, uh... on.

"They are as useful to our repair techs as the older machines and their error codes were."

That's the funniest thing of all.

Wonder if the buttons are supposed to turn pink or chartreuse or orange -- perhaps in different color combos depending on what the "error code" is?

Personally, I think the same guy who came up with the idea of color packs for the Comfort Curve mask (remember the different colors you could buy for that misbegotten mask?) came up with the "cool blue lights" idea for the M buttons. Whew.

Wonder how many people on their design teams actually USE cpap machines?
my guess is:

Those LED's were really supposed to be 3 different colors so the Respironics techs could play the machine like that once popular Simon computer toy:

LOL Back in 1972 it was the most powerful computer out, the space shuttle I don't think was even thought of then

someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...

I showed my husband that reply last night. He is head of R and D for a compay that makes mass spectrometers. He said his guess is that they are getting a (pardon me) shit-load of complaints about this and are getting defensive.

He hasn't had to submit a machine to the fda yet, but he has had to submit to other govt agencies like the army and epa and so forth and he says that you submit a "box," as is, you aren't allowed to change anything. If you do, you have to submit a whole new "box."

I have no idea. But the line of crap they sent me makes me mad! It just seems like they keep forgetting we are patients, sleep disordered patients.

Can anyone explain what "Voluntary Withdrawal" means. Does that mean if I am willing to be without my machine for 6 weeks and if I can get my DME to send it in they will change the color of the buttons to red or green or purple or some color than blue?
