Thursday's Health and Safety Fair At Work

Post by TXKajun » Thu Aug 30, 2007 8:31 pm

Today, Thursday, we had our annual health and safety fair at work and when I was walking around the exhibits, lo and behold, there was one for the new sleep clinic here in our little town! I talked to the rech for just a few minutes after listening to about 4 folks say their partner snored like a freight train, tossed and turned and stopped breathing quite a bit! Geez! And these were folks from work! I work with about 100 or so folks.

They do a 2 night test here. The reason given was that the deepest sleet didn't happen usually until between 2 and 4 AM and they wanted to get a complete picture of the night. Then, they would have the patient back for a titration. Sounds like quite a scam to me, but what do I know?? *innocent 2.5 year hosehead look* LOL I asked what they did with the masks they used in their titrations and she said they send them home with the patients. Drat! I was hoping so score a freebie! LOL

I asked where they recommended that a CPAP be purchased around here and she said at any of the Oxygen suppliers. I had a brief chance to visit with the tech and she said her hubby had OSA. Then she asked what system I had and I told her. She looked at me wide-eyed and then said "Gosh, my hubby buys his stuff online at cpap.com." I had to walk away before I totally lost it laughing!! ROFLMAO! At least she was honest!

Later, ya'll!

they had one of those at my last job also, Aetna and Apria were both there, never seen so much money wasted on cheap ink pens, writing pads and ugly looking key chains.

probably one of the most tacky presentations I ever seen. After I left there I understood why my copay was $20 for a 30 tablets of 10mg Lisinopril.

Last time I had it filled for a 90-day supply in 20mg dose at Wal-Mart Pharmacy it was $12 and I don't have to drive back and forth every month to refill it.
someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...

Kajun, as far as I know, the split night study was invented by the insurance companys, to save money.

They told you right about what happens in the early AM when peopls sleep.
