Respironics mask

Post by t-bone » Sat Aug 25, 2007 6:53 pm

I have one. It's about the size of the ResMed Ultra Mirage Full Face mask.

Review: It doesn't fit me at all. The cushion is the wrong shape for my face. It feels okay when I put it on, but as soon as I hook it up and turn on my machine, I feel BIG leaks on both sides. For this reason, I can't give you a "sleep test" report. If it fits you well, it should work well.

One other benefit of the ResMed UMFF is that the cushion is readily removeable from the mask frame, and thus easy to replace. It is suggested that the mask cushion on the UMFF be replaced every three months or so (IIRC).

I used it with success the first year, (ComfortFull), It worked well after my nose healed and hardened up. It broke at the lower mask strap connector, just a little weak at that area, I epoxied it. Jim

I have been using ComfortLite 2 on and off. Premium Headgear is real nice. Quick release snaps can be difficult to attach and detach (but real easy once you figure out the trick to it). Quick-disconnect hose feature is great (love it). Exhaust is quiet. Comfortable, but LEAKS during the night at pressures 13cm and greater, especially if you are a side sleeper like me, as the mask tends to move around alot. I am going to try it with a cpap pillow and see if that helps. Also, I think the mask is just the wrong shape for my face. Nice attempt, Respironics, but this mask is no better or no worse than anyone elses. I am going to try the F & P FlexiFit HC431 next, and then, in October, when it is released, I am definitely going to try the Hans Rudolf V2. That one sounds exciting from what I have read in press releases.

Sorry, meant to say ComfortFull 2. Also, posted as Guest was my mistake.

I used the comfortfull for about a month. It seemed allright at first but I kept tightening it trying to get the leaks around the corners of my mouth stopped and couldn't get it to work. Way to tight and caused bruised gums and whiskers wore off my chin. I switched to the F&P 431 and it works much better for me. It has been almost a month with it..

I am in the middle of mask roulette too. I tried the Ultra Mirage and sent it back. It would not seal on my face at pressure of 16. The Respironics fairs better, and is usuable. I ordered a Comfortgel Nasal mask to try out.
Right now, my mask is a cheap Probasics one...very simple, and it seals well, with decent comfort.

Have not tried a nasal pillow yet.

Ive been using the ComfortFull 2 mask for three nights now. It is my first attempt at a full face mask. I resorted to it because of mouth breathing. I have been pretty successful in getting a good seal, but wish that there were a size in between M and L. The M was clearly too small, but I think the L is bigger than I need it to be. I also think that the forehead support adjuster is poorly made. I could see it breaking in the future. Otherwise the construction is good. For the low price it was definitely worth taking a shot to cure my mouth breathing issue.

You are correct, usually the bottom goes first, at the swivel clips, I also had it give out at the nose adjuster, also where the forehead pad clips on.

The forehead pad is interchanagable with CormfortGel's. Even though they break if you get a spare they are ok, just don't want to get caught short. I get a mask every 6 months and am now ready, and I have my Epoxy ready too. Jim

Having them too tight helps break them, also you need to be careful how you take them on & off.

I tried the ComfortFull2 under pressure in the RT's office and it leaked on either side of my chin - wrong shape for my face. Otherwise comfortable.
