Encore Pro software and smart card reader
Encore Pro software and smart card reader
Geez, I'm trying to take some control over my therapy (recently diagnosed) and would like to purchase the smart card reader and software for my REMStar Auto with A-flex. From what I've just researched, I don't think there is any software out there that supports my smart card with the latest REMStar A-flex machine. It appears that the reader can be purchased for the card, but no software is available to support it. Anyone have any knowledge about this and if I'm totally wrong -- where can I buy the needed software and reader? Thanks for any help!

I believe you need the 1.8 software for the aflex. I don't have it or know where to get it, but someone will pop up with more info for you.

All of the answers to your questions are here.....posted by various people over a long period of time.
Start reading everything associated with the yellow lightbulb at the top of the page. It takes a little time and effort on your part to absorb the info you need.....but it's doable. One of my old teachers had a saying..."Roast pigeons will not fly into your mouth".
Purchase the card reader....and set it aside.
The software you need is EncorePro version 1.8i. Respironics doesn't want you to have it. Your DME doesn't want you to have it. Your doctor probably doesn't want you to have it. You must have it.
The software is "out there". Sometimes a ghostly spirit like the tooth fairy leaves a copy under the pillow of a good little boy or girl.
Get busy.

Unfortunately encore pro 1.8 is not allow to sell in the USA. You can try australian online stores,
http://www.cpapaustralia.com.au/shoppin ... ftware.htm
or some other site.
You can buy smart card reader from Hong Kong website.

To elaborate on Green Ice's post: the smart card reader you can buy from Hong Kong is the exact same one that cpap retailers sell here in the U.S., except you will pay only about $30 including shipping to get the one from Hong Kong, or $160 plus shipping to get the identical reader from a U.S. retailer. If you're uncomfortable about buying from Hong Kong, I understand. However, me and other people on this forum have purchased our readers from the website Green Ice lists (I think it is the actual manufacturer's website), and have not had any problems.
One other tip: when you get the reader, do not install the drivers from the CD that ships with the reader. Instead, wait until you get Encore Pro 1.8i, which has the drivers in its own installation package.
Good luck!

I just bouight a copy of 1.8 release 2 from thecpapshop.com. It included the reader, which I didn't need, but if you want something bad enough you pay the price. The package was $179.00 and it came within a couple of days of the online purchase. Hope this helps. This source may not last long once the word gets around.

I too purchased my reader from Hong Kong. Absolutely no problems with shipping. Got it quickly because I paid for the express (which doubled the price to a whopping $50 )

I payed $52.50 for my reader from cpapusa.com and got it in 2 days after it shipped. They're "closed" on weekends... Otherwise it would of shipped earlier, I ordered it Friday after they were closed up for the weekend.DeltaSeeker wrote:I too purchased my reader from Hong Kong. Absolutely no problems with shipping. That australian site was perfect....31.80 total. That's the cheapest I've seen for a reader THANK YOU! I already have the software, found that on my own.

Glad you find what you looking for. I am merely passing on information from previous postings, special thanks to the forum members.lilsheba wrote:That australian site was perfect....31.80 total. That's the cheapest I've seen for a reader THANK YOU! I already have the software, found that on my own.
I checked today and they don't have it listed on their site. Respironics probably read your post and already forced them to pull it.curtcurt46 wrote:I just bouight a copy of 1.8 release 2 from thecpapshop.com. Or - I wonder if a lot of these retailers have got smart and pulled the software from their website, but if you call them maybe they will still sell it to you? Kind of like how a lot of the electronics places won't show you the price of a new TV until you add it to your shopping cart, due to pressure from the manufacturers. It might be worth a try for someone who is seriously looking for the software.
