New CPAP different than old - pressure

Post by hm » Wed Aug 22, 2007 4:10 pm

I had a recent sleep study - had to be bumped to 9.0 pressure. They adjusted my older CFlex unit - but I qualified for a new one. Got the new one - but feel like I am suffocating. Tech came out - my old one measure 9.3 when they test it set to 9.0 - the new one is 8.8 measure. Have any of you had this problem - if I put the humidfier on the new one - I wake up with heart racing, etc.

Any suggestions - or have you been through this?

What kind of machine did they give you? You may have gone from a machine with C-Flex to one without any kind of exhale relief.....

If your older one had (or didn't have) automatic altitude adjustment, that might be one issue......either the manual adjustment wasn't changed or the "automatic" sensor has a slight problem.....or, you had it tested at an altitude that was near the borderline of a range.

I've also read (here) that the tolerances are plus or minus 1 cm. So, from the numbers you listed, it sounds like they were both within those tolerances.
