your pressure is 20.0cm? And they gave you a plain jane machine set at its MAXIMUM pressure?

I'd be looking for a new doctor and DME because they are both dumb asses in my opinion. You should really be on a Bipap or better yet a Bipap Auto at that pressure. Running a machine at its maximum pressure is only going to make it fail sooner and give you sub-standard therapy.

But you can try going thru programming and making sure the machine is set up correctly, should be the same as the auto version and display similar prompts, the BOLD prompts shown below is what you want to check, make sure they are set as shown below:

1. Hold down the <- -> buttons while plugging in the power on the back, wait 2 beeps, release buttons.
2. Press the + key. <- -> buttons move to next field, -/+ keys decrement/increment
3. Check the following field(s):

-Therapy Mode=Auto (CPAP/Auto)

-Auto:Max=12 (default=20.0cm)

-Auto:Min=6.0 (default=4.0cm)

-CFlex Setting=2 (options are off, 1, 2 or 3)

-AutoRamp Time=30 (options are 05 to 45 min)

-AutoRamp Pressure=6.0cm (4cm->AutoMin)

-Mask Alert Feature=ON (On/Off)

-Auto Off Feature=Off (On/off)

-Split Night Time = Off (off, 120, 180, 240)

-Show AHI/Leak Feature=ON (On/Off)

Press On/Off button to exit.

You won't have some of the prompts shown above on your machine.

someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...

A brief power outage or brownout might have effected your CPAP machine and not the rest of your appliances.

If so, the solution is a computer UPS battery backup device.
For a short term power outage, you don't need a high capacity one.

I checked my UPS for my computers. It listed 23 "blackouts" long enough to switch to battery power in 4 weeks! Total of nine minutes. Those would be long enough to turn off many devices.

I get mine from http://www.newegg.com . You can get one for about $35 plus shipping.

Sing,
It shouldn't happen, and it's abnomal.

In addition to what others wrote -as a cheaper solution (...) I'ld just make sure that both side of the electric cable feeding the machine were firmly plugged in.

A pressure of 20 is often considered a good reason to give a person a Bi-level machine, the goes up to 20 only for the inhale, and is lower for exhale. Some bi-lelvle have a maximum cpacity of 25, so running them at 20 doesn't tax them so much.

However, some insurance companies insist you try a "Plain Jane" machine (and sort of prove non-compliance...) before they fork out the money for the more expensive bi-levels.
