Aura hose management

Post by DaddyB » Thu Aug 16, 2007 11:36 am

Hi folks. I have been using a CPAP w/ nasal pillows with the hose attaching to the nose piece from the side. This is really annoying as it is constantly getting tugged every time I move. I've had my machine only a few weeks and this has really made it tough to get used to it.

I have been looking at the Aura interface mentioned here (Twilight NP, Aura/Headrest Nasal CPAP Interface) but can't seem to figure where the hose would be once it's attached to the mini-hose. Since it goes back up over your head, how do you keep from laying / rolling over on it?

Thanks much!

This is what I did to help with hose management. It is kinda long but if you scroll down you will see some pics for the basic idea.

Of course there are other ideas out there on the forum. I like mine because it tracks me as I roll around. You have got to get as many things under control so that you don't wake up with "dumb" things like hose problems that can be fixed. There are enough other things to deal with, so solve the easy ones once and for all, like hose management!! Good luck!

One nail, banged into the wall about a foot or a bit more above the level of my head.
One hair scruchy.
One clean shoe lace.

Pull hose through scrunchy
Use shoe lace to create a loop and hang scruchy + hose from wall so it dangles to my face.

Not as elegant as Jon's, and if I were to find a swiveling plant hanger I'ld try that - but this simple solution had been doing it's job for 2.5 year now.

Over the head hose management works very well for me. I do not "dangle" it in any way, as that creates rainout for me, and also tugs at my face.

I run the hose over my head, to the back of the pillow, and to the right along the crack between the mattress and the headboard, and then to the machine.

The hose doesn't tug, doesn't get in my way, and I have much less rainout.

If you share your bed, you'll need to configure this to work on YOUR side of the bed, and make sure your machine is on that side of the bed, too.

I sleep smack in the middle BECAUSE I CAN!

LOL,
B.

I'm running an Aura....the hose is suspended above me by a swinging arm....which is a hanging pot plant bracket. The bracket is clamped to the headboard. Works great!

Paul.....Babette....There's plenty down here in the Louisiana swamps that isn't legal.

The unofficial motto of Louisiana is, "Let the good times rool."

I got here in 1954.....and learned that these people know how to party!

Yeah, just gotta love that Laissez Le Bon Temps Roulet!

I remember there was this night back about 1994, and I had a room at the Royal Sonesta, right on Bourbon Street, and...

So Babette......You saw things that don't happen anywhere else! Bourbon St. is a fascinating place......such a great place to people-watch. My first visit was in 1958.....and on that trip I got to eat at Galatoir's. It's still my favorite place to eat.

Sadly, Katrina has deprived us of much that made New Orleans an interesting place to visit. I consider it too dangerous now.

Gerald - I'm going to New Orleans in early September. I went there once before, but am excited to go again. This time I'm staying on Canal St. See things you've never seen before? Damn straight, you do!

I had to buy the heated hose to use the np- rain was a problem

the np is my favorite- I am able to use it out of the box due, I think, to having a large hat size

I suspend hose over my head from hanger as others mentioned

also got pursleep- used first time last night- its a good thing

the hosehead business seems to be a constant trial and error- minor adjustment type of deal just keep trying
[ I am down to under 3 ahi and still am hoping for better]

Tangents.....PM me and I'll help you with New Orleans info. I have restaurant knowledge.....plus tips on how to be streetwise. Since you can't carry "protection" with you, arming yourself with knowledge is very important.
