As the CPAP turns... so are the days of our lives.
I have an actual appointment in the morning at the local Apria office.
I'm supposed to pick up a Remstar Plus with C-flex with heated humidifer and be fitted for the mask.
They actually had me down for a Fisher and Paykel unit, but I like the way the Remstar units look... they don't look like they belong in an old folks home.
With Aetne, I rent for 8 0r 9 months and then it converts to a purchase. Apria says I can get a PRO unit if the doc modifies the Rx for it.
Hopefully this will work out.

Well, I now have a CPAP machine and a mask.
They gave me a bottom of the line Remstar M series with heated humidifier.
I asked about the pro model qith C-flex. They said they didn't have that in stock but would order it for me and swap out my machine with a modified Rx from the doctor.
I'll give this a couple nights and then talk to the doc. My pressure is 13cm, which seems kind of high. Thank goodness for the ramp-up feature.

Yes, the ramping feature is very helpful.
I'm also supposed to be at a pressure of 13, and I agree that it seems really high. After 3 nights of using straight CPAP at 13, my lungs, airway, throat and nose were raw and in constant pain.
I complained to my doctor about it and he wrote me a new prescription for an AutoPAP machine. After about 3 days of using it, it looks like my average pressure is actually about 9.
If you have any problems at all tolerating the pressure, be sure to let your doctor know about it. Since you are going to be getting a different machine anyway, you could try for an Auto if it might be better.
But then again, you might be just fine. The M-Series Pro with C-Flex is a good machine if you only need straight CPAP and not Auto.
