Back from vacation...pretty successful

Post by khallow » Sat Aug 11, 2007 7:17 pm

We drove to NY from TX. I did pretty well with the CPAP while traveling. If you remember I got my machine less than a week before we left for vacation. Right before I left I posted about my nose hurting and getting pimples under my nose. After several rounds of acne there it has now cleared up and I have no sore spots anymore. I guess it's kind of like nursing... you have to get used to new pressure points etc and it takes a bit to get used to it.

The only problem I had on vacation was taking my mask off while sleeping. I would wake up with it not being on... usually quite puzzled and put it on again. This happened 1-2x per night. My AHI average went up as well by 1 point. But, now that I am home I hope to get that back under control. I was feeling good the first week or so of vacation but staying up late to converse with seldom seen in laws and 3 days of driving home have caught up with me and I'm really beat. Hopefully I'll get some good sleep the next 2 weeks as it's back to work teaching in two weeks!

I hope you all have been well.
Karen

Glad to hear that you had a nice vacation, and that you are doing so well with your mask and machine. Many remove the mask during the night in the beginning. Give it some time. If you continue to remove it, try a little tape. tape the headgear to your skin, the discomfort should keep you from taking it off. Look for other mask issues, pain, leaks, etc, to be sure it isn't something with the mask causing you to remove it. If it checks out ok, don't worry about it.

Sounds like you're doing pretty good! I'm glad you had a good vacation! And from one teacher to another... definitely use the next couple of weeks to rest up! Our school starts back on the 20th of this month, but we teachers report back on Wednesday, the 15th. That's only three all too short days away, so I've had to alter my summer sleep schedule to get back into routine. That means bye-bye to napping and staying up so late!
