John_M,

Just wanted to commend you on a very wise, tactful, and peaceable response.

I wish I'd been patient enough to make such a response.

I'm a person who tries to patronize businesses that have responsible philosophies. In my home community, I will pay a bit more to buy something at a local business where I know the owners, for instance. I think there are many people out there who think of these things, too.

One of the reasons that I am a loyal customer of cpap.com is that I like their business model and their ethics. It is based on a philosophy that I can feel good about. It's nice to give them my money because I have a sense of who they are and what they stand for. This forum is a reflection of their business model.

A good model to emulate.

On this forum we are especially sensitive to businesses that appear unethical and uncaring. The majority of us have been burned by them. Spam sends a message like that.

If you are truly interested in serving people with sleep apnea, there are many new ways to do it.

Why would you guys think that we are just here to spam our organization? We are actually trying to help out people that want more information about cpap devices and such. We are doing this for the community...not just to get more business then our competitors...

Why?

I'm going to go out on a limb and speak for others here. It's dangerous to do, but I'll make an attempt based on my feelings and the overall sense I get from others here. Please take this in the spirit in which it's intended:

As a business, you are probably aware of the public negative view of companies. This sentiment is exaggerated here because this is a group of people who have had VERY bad personal experience with corporations. It's not an abstract "all corporations are evil" thing for many us. When you've been personally dinged so harshly by large corporations, some times in multiple cases, the natural tendency is to be wary. You know the old cliche "once bitten, twice shy?" There's a lot of truth in it.

As a business, you probably also understand the importance of presentation of your message. I won't pretend to know your motivations. They may be noble. They may be for pure profit. This audience is even more suspect than the wider population of any business-sponsored venture. Does that help?

Doug.

Well our organization is trying to help out the community like cpap.com is doing by offering their members a bulletin board. We have just updated our template and have added a few new features to it. If everyone here wants to assume that we are spamming our business to attack on our competitors, thats fine. Atleast give us credit for helping the CPAP community grow.

Terrible.....

Sorry Sir, but as the owner of Public forums, 3 Blogs and multiple E-commerce web sites, I think it is just plain WRONG to come on this forum to promote your own.

CPAPTALK.COM is a private website and we are guests in our hosts house. You just don't come in and say....Come on down the street everybody so you don't have to wade through 300 pages....

If I owned this forum I would be proud to have 300 pages to wade through because there is a lot of informations that DME's, Doctor's and RT's could use and for me personally, this forum and the people who come here have been a wonderful support group.

One thing I know Mr. Chatter...you will probably buy your next CPAP mask from cpap.com...Right? That is the least you can do for all the free advertising you have been getting.

I hope you don't mind if I don't go to that forum.

ELLIOT

Thanks John, just done that. Added 2 links, a blog and a forum. For some reason it made me enter the CAPTCHA 4 times but I got there in the end.

See what happens.

You evidently think the members here are very very stupid and gulllible.
