FF and Claustrophobia?

Post by sharonious » Sun Apr 10, 2005 11:31 am

Not having luck with my newly purchased Mirage Swift Nasal Pillows. They seem to move in the middle of the night (presumably when I do, which is often) and then I am not getting air and off it comes. (And what an expense not to work for me). Pillows do allow easy exhale which I had wanted, but I can't seem to keep them on. Much happier with Ultra Mirage Nasal Mask but it has bruised my forehead, and continues to do so even though I have top straps as loose as can be now. Also, I find I am not bothered by air going from throat to mouth with Nasal Mask but do so with Nasal Pillows. Maybe that is why it comes off (with help from a 3/4ths asleep me) in the middle of the night. I am considering a FF mask but wonder if anyone somewhat claustrophobic wears one and is able to keep it on. I am somewhat, not severely, claustrophobic. I admit I wondered at first if I'd tolerate a mask at all, but happily found that just the reassurance of a steady stream of air overcame potential closed-in feeling. Anyone out there who can share their experiences? Thanks.......Sharon, who so wants to get this right......

Sharon,

How are you securing the hose on the Swift? I run mine up over the top and across the top of my head and ten attach it at two places. I found this makes the Swift much more stable.
Sincerely,

Also keeping the straps a bit on the loose side seem to help the pillows seal better.
