J.A.
I have been on CPAP for 6 nights. I have done the same thing as you. Last night before going to bed I decided I was not going to take the mask off and I did not. Somehow making that decision before going to sleep helped me keep it on all night. Of course I felt great today.
Keep trying. Find out what you need to do to keep it on.

Really Strange . . .
I have been doing this
About the same time after starting c-pap as you. I had mine a week before I went on vacation and while on vacation in week 2 started taking it off 1-2 times per night and not remembering it. Last night I made it all night with it on for the first time since the first week and a half. I don't know why I am/was taking it off. I'm hoping I quit it soon as I have been more tired. From what other posts have said it might be a fairly common adjustment problem as we get used to wearing it. Mine is always neatly hung over the headboard too!
Good luck and stick with it. I'm trying to do the "self talk" and I orderd the pur-sleep stuff to see if that would help.

Re: Really Strange . . .
[quote="j.a.taylor"]I've been on CPAP for almost two weeks now, and took to it quickly without much struggle.
Most nights, I turn on the machine, position my mask, and fall right to sleep until my alarm goes off in the morning. This has been a great feeling, because normally I wake up 4-5 times a night, and generally don't sleep longer than 2 hours in a stretch.
However, every two days or so, I suddenly wake up at night without my mask on. The first time, my mask was hung nicely over our headboard, but the machine was still running--that woke me up, and I put the mask back on.
The next time this happened, I woke up with the mask in my hand.
Last night, I went to bed at 11, put the mask on as usual, and at some point, had a "dream" that I was shutting my machine off. I then tossed and turned, with crazy dreams (in one I was promoting a Beatles reunion, which would have been difficult with two of them gone), but didn't actually wake up until 2:30 am when I realized I felt like crap. The mask was off, and hung nicely, and the machine was off. So, I'm concluding that I shut it down in a semi-conscious state.
I put the mask back on, started the machine, and slept until 7 when my alarm went off. But I've got to tell you, I feel like crap today.
Anyone else had similar experiences? Stranger experiences?
