Pur-sleep vs scented candles?

Post by painterman » Tue Jul 31, 2007 12:23 pm

I was showing my brother, who is also a hosehead, my pur-sleep system and he asked me if using a scented candle that is not lit would do the same. He uses a couple of unlit scented candles at his studio just for the smell. Like I said he does not light them. Is a smell a smell or is essential oils different? He borrowed the pur-sleep for one night and really liked the idea of it but said that halfway through the night he couldn't smell it anymore and wished that he could. He said a scented candle doens't stop smelling and might work all night. Just wondering what you all think?

Just speaking for myself here, but after smelling ANY fragrance for a little while, no matter what the source, I can't smell it after a while.

I have scented candles in my room (not close enough to smell through my cpap) and after I've been in the room a bit, I can no longer smell them.

I'm guessing it's the same with the Pur-Sleep system.

I can't smell the Pur-Sleep fragrance when I wake up in the middle of the night for a bathroom visit, but I know the fragrance is still on the pad.

I usually wake in the morning, I go downstairs to make coffee and do a few chores. When I go back upstairs and open the cat carrier where my machine is to get the parts to clean, I can totally smell whatever scent that is on the pad.

I am guessing that he would not smell the candle in the middle of the night either.

Scented candles reek to me. They use cheap synthetic scents, usually in fragrances I don't like, anyway.

If you like them you can put them on little "candle warmer" hot plates to release their scent without lighting them.

Do be sure you put the candle in a glass container before putting it on the warmer. If it didn't come in one.

Many of the staff in my building LOVE to do this in their offices. I'm so tired of this place smelling like PIE! No wonder we're all freakin' overweight!!!!!!

Sorry...
B.
