I didn't ever have any leaks even at a pressure of 12, just headaches and chest pain!
Jen, I LOVE YOUR NEW AVATAR!!!!
I cannot wait to get my auto!! And my pur-sleep!! I really liked the swift II, I wonder if it will work better for me with the auto?
Jen, my prescribed pressure is 12. My apap range is going to be set at 8 - 14.

Thanks!
I'm not sure what the headaches were from--but many of us here had them the first few days/weeks. Snoredog has a theory about vasoconstriction and healing and I don't remember I'm just bullshitting, sorry. But it is true that many of us had them--I still get them when I find myself on the puter too long--even with a brand new monitor!
The chest pain: could be gerd. Seriously look into gerd and silent gerd. I have silent gerd and b4 treatment with prilosec, I had a huge lump of mucous in my throat at all times that no amount of water drinking, clearing my throat, coughing would get rid of. That is only one of the symptoms. I almost never had full blown heartburn. That is where the silent comes in. My ENT diagnosed it.
Chest pain could also be related to you having to use muscles to breath against the pressure that you haven't used in a long time. When you have apnea your whole respiratory system is depressed--it is a vicious cycle! So, you were breathing more shallowly b4 and now you have to use your diaphram and other muscles more.
I like to practice slow conscious breathing before going to sleep--making sure I'm breathing "into my stomach" instead of chest because that is the healthier way to breath and it relaxes me and releases tension. Allows me to slow down my thoughts and focus on something--not the machine, just the act of breathing. I fall asleep so fast now!
So, what you are experiencing isn't unique. I would mention the chest pain to your doc if it doesn't resolve asap, though!

I do indeed have GERD and I take Nexium for that. I also have an enlarged right ventrical from my many years of untreated OSA.
This is why I am so determined to make this therapy work....too many health issues at too young an age (45).
Thats why I'm asking so many dumb questions!! I want to get better!
I think you are right about the chest pain. I know it is definitely from the pap, not like heart pain....been there, done that, know what it feels like.
I'm pretty sure that, like you, my pressures will hang out below my prescribed pressure of 12 most of the time.
Thanks for your input!

Nancy,
Questions are NOT DUMB. As I have taught my son, asking questions is a good way of finding things out!
There is such a big learning curve here--you are well on your way to figuring it out and you are in the right place.
I LOVE this community. These people here really make me happy. I never thought I would join a virtual community like this, but here I am! These people are life savers, literally.
