The M-Series A-FLEX definitely requires the 1.8i Encore Pro. And it works great with it. As does the interpreter software Encore Pro Analyser, version 0.8.9, from James Skinner.

As a note I got my card reader and 1.8i from http://www.cpapaustralia.com.au -- at reasonable cost compared to the $500.00 range that suppliers are saying the software costs now. But, you're buying the card reader and software together. Nice folks to deal with, as my first shipment got lost, and they replaced it and sent the replacement with expedited shipping.

Ironically as it sounds, I was reading Snoredog's review of the A-Flex machine (the one my DME is supposed to be dropping off today) when my DME called me.

She said they were backorder on the A-Flex and were going to substitute it with an older model of the Auto - C-Flex machine.

I put my foot down and told them that I will wait until Friday when the new A-Flex machines come in and THEN we will switch it out.

My doctor order an A-Flex .... I expect to get an A-Flex ... nice try

So I am waiting for my brandy new A-Flex to be delivered on Friday afternoon!

I wouldn't let them drop off anything other than the A-Flex your doctor prescribed, there is no back log on them machines and the difference in comfort is huge.

someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...

Go Snoredog... you got that right. The A-FLEX M-Series is the king of CPAP's and I hope it REM's me during every night. There is no reasonable substitute for it... yet.

thanks for the feedback. yeah, some DME's, not all, are quick sometimes to sell you something else. This forum saves some folks a lot of trouble.

Greyhound, A-flex works with 1.8. I am using it with XP. I tried it with James Skinner's software, it works too. Do not know whether A-flex is compatible with 1.6 ,

I have NOT tried to download with 1.6, so I have NO idea if it will work with it or not, I have 1.8 and it works fine.

Is it that 1.6 simply doesn't have the "A-Flex" logo in the "database" to display on reports or is it missing the needed data so the software can read the machine? Reports look identical to the C-Flex except the logo says A-Flex instead of C-Flex.

I wonder if 1.6 refuses to download the data from the card or it is a cosmetic thing in the report. I'm sure the database is full of old templates for the legacy machines and it makes sense if you come out with a new machine you'll need upgraded software, but does it refuse to read with 1.6? that I don't know.

Hello everyone,

Just wantec to comment on my new A-Flex machine. DME brought it to my work yesterday and I was so excited to get home and try it out.

WHAT a difference in breathing effort. I couldn't believe how natural it felt with this machine.

So, let me add my thumbs up for this one !

I still haven't had a full night with my mask on yet, but I went from 1.5 hours everyday for 21 days to 2.5 hours last night.

Every bit of progress is good progress

So, how is it different on the exhale especially, compared to my machine with the cflex on 1?

I'm a first time poster here though I've lurked in the forums as a Guest for quite some time. I've found the discussions and the suggestions to be very helpful.

I had to post though to say that I wasn't using my CPAP with C-Flex because I couldn't stand the feeling of air being forced down my throat. It was hard for me to fall asleep, even with the ramp-up, and I could never endure the mask for more than a couple of hours before snatching it off.

After reading about the Auto-Pap with A-Flex, I approached my HMO about exchanging machines, but the DME said I could only upgrade the equipment every two years. So, I got the Auto-Pap w/ A-Flex out of my own pocket. (I guess it'll be a tax write-off for me this year.)

Anyway... I had to say that the difference is amazing. I no longer feel like someone is blowing me up for the Macy's Day Parade! The A-Flex makes exhaling effortless, allowing me to actually breathe. It was well worth the money.

I'm still yanking the mask off in the middle of the night, but now I'm getting in a good 4-hours before I do.

Thanks Jazzy....that's really good to know. Guess I'm gonna fork out the dough also. I used to snatch my mask off, now I seem to have gotten past the point of panic, and I just unclip it...problem is sometimes I enjoy "no mask" so much I sleep for a couple of hrs without it. I try not to do it if possible.

v. 1.6 will work with the M series BUT you need 1.8 for the A-flex. Found this out the hard way when I tried to read a card from a CPAP hottie with an A-flex with 1.6 and an error occured. I called Respironyx and they said "Yup, you need 1.8 for that" So we updated and everything worked out fine
