Sleep Doctors in Las Vegas, Nevada

Post by Newsgrouper » Tue Apr 05, 2005 11:43 am

I am being treated by the Veterans Administration but I would like to find a "sleep certified" (whatever that is) sleep doctor for a second opinion. Not only do I want a good doctor but I want one who will go to bat for me if this condition does not improve, or worsens, and leads to becoming disabled. Does anyone know of any such doctors in Las Vegas or a link where I could find one?

Look in the yellow pages . Find a pulmonary doc. Call and ask if they specialize in sleep medicine. Ask what sleep lab they use. Call them and ask for referrals.

I found a couple of pulmonary doctors in the phone book who happen to be certified by the AMERICAN BOARD OF SLEEP MEDICINE so I guess they know their business. Looking for a pulmonary doctor made the search easy. Had no luck looking for a "sleep" specialist.

When looking at folks certified by the American Board of Sleep Medicine I saw some psychologists listed. Why would psychologists be certified in sleep medicine?

I hear you Chris but do the M.D.s truly have a better understanding of sleep disorders than other M.D,s?

The treatment that works well is CPAP for OSA. Find a doc that will make CPAP as comfortable as possible. Ask if they work with you on finding the right mask, (not just finding the one mask that they suggest). Ask if they routinely use humidifiers, ask if they know about CFLEX, ask if they prescribe AUTO Titrating CPAP.

The one that answers YES to most or all of those questions is a good place to start.

WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS - STAYS IN VEGAS

NO ONE KNOWS OR TELLS IF THEY SLEEP OR NOT

Becky - frequent LV visitor and donator
I just had my first night of sleep study. My questions is, when I have the gastric bypass surgery and lose weight, will I still have to wear this equipment? I have not received all results, but oxygen level did go down to 76. That they did not like.
