yeah, the lights are blue, but not bright, and you can choose whether or not you want to project the time onto the ceiling

i used to be someone who absolutely couldn't go to sleep if i didn't check the time first, even when i'd wake up through the night...my hubby is someone who refuses to look at the time once he's in bed...so, needless to say, the time does NOT get projected onto the ceiling when he's not on midnights...even so, the light is so dim that even i've given up on trying to peer in the dark to see the time, so they can't be that bright...for me the draw was the alternatives to beeping and buzzing though, so as i mentioned, i'm sure there are other brands that don't use the blue lights

I finally received my Pro watch early this week. I am collecting my nightly data with their software program. It plots the time of each near awake moment (Stage 1) and nightly average between near awakes. Need more data and analyzing to know how useful this information will be. They say a higher average indicates a more restful sleep. Want to correlate this with my "real" metric (OAI).

Can't comment yet either on being awoken at the "right" time within my awake window. I have been a bad boy and have gotten to bed too late this week. Been distracted with a new member of the family (600 lbs, 0 ounces). I do know the combo of beeps and vibrate wakes me up.

FWIW, their "charting" software is pretty good. It auto loads the nightly data via USB then you have the option to select mood (energetic, neutral, tired), pre-defined factors (alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, late evening exercise, eating late, spicy foods, stress, temperature, lighting, external sounds), and free form comments. You can manually enter a nightly event, so you could hijack their software for your own CPAP charting and fake it out by entering your OAI/AHI instead of their average . Anybody can download software from their support page I listed before.

Regarding HoMetics sleep sound machine. I have their SoundSpa Premier. $40 at Bed Bath Beyond.

Doesn't have MP3 player slot, but does natural sounds as Sharon describes. Also displays indoor temperature and outdoor temperature with wireless transmitter. I really like the light projection on ceiling for time & temp (easier to roll on back for then contort head/mask to read a clock). The light blue glow of face makes a good nightlight (I am still afraid of the boogeyman). The blue glow is color coordinated with the Respironics Pro . I don't use the alarm feature anymore as the watch does the trick.

Ok, is their anymore sleep gizmos out there besides drugs and oregano like substances? . Does anybody sell those enclosed sleep pods used in space travel?

Yes, Sharon got it. A new motorcycle, Kawasaki Concours 14. A spanking new model this year in the "supersport touring" class. Cross between a crotch rocket and Gold Wing. Nice upright riding position and comfy for long trips. And the 1,350 cc wolf under the covers will do 60 in 3 secs if you want to be naughty. Already took a long ride on backroads from Viriginia to Rhode Island for a combo biz trip and vist my daughter over labor day. Laptop, four days of clothes, and CPAP machine fit in the luggage .

My review of the watch will have to be on hold for a little while.

After a couple days, I developed a spot of irritation (almost a blister) on my wrist from the watch. I thought it was caused by the sharper metal corners of the watch and the fact this hand is mostly under pillow. I called SleepTracker to see where I could put some felt on the bottom that wouldn't interfere with the sensor.

The gentlemen knew exactly what I was talking about. They are recalling the units to fix this problem. To my surprise, the problem isn't mechanical, but electrical. Apparently a software bug keeps the USB connector on when it should be off. As a result, a very minor voltage is generated all night long. Hence, the irritation I found.

They hope to fix within a couple weeks.

FWIW, the company seemed very responsible in handling the issue. They sent out a recall notice to everyone a week ago (but I must have missed it) and are working diligently.

Is this problem w/the original SleepTracker or with the new SleepTracker Pro? Or both?

The recall was just for the new Pro model. The older model didn't have a USB port. And it seems limited to the first X hundred they sold. Following is excerpt from the recall e-mail I just received. You can get a replacement, full refund, or $50 discount/credit on older unit. The first option for me.
