Fidget
Been there, done that and have the tee shirt.
My partners and I owned a cigar shop in Miami, we held get togethers, provided a smoking lounge, coffee, etc. Anyone that wanted to try a new cigar came in and bought one or two. The majority of customers used us and then bought their boxes of cigars off the internet. They didn't feel bad about it at all because internet cigars "are less expensive" It was beginning to look as if soon their won't actually be any place that a person can go, sit down with friends, smoke cigars and tell lies. But it looks as if the credit card companies are going to take care of that. Most credit card companies will no longer make payment for tobacco products.
People don't realize the fact that brick and mortar locations cost money, just as we don't realize that when we buy all the Chinese crap at Walmart we are sending money to an enemy of the U.S. There is no way that you nor I can prevent this rationalization. They will continue to check it out in your brick and mortar location then buy it on line and want to nickel and dime you to death and expect you to kiss their arses for their two dollars of business!

Re: Business woes.
Looks like this problematic customer doesn't represent the "norm" any more so than the DME here.

[quote="fidget"]No no no, Slinky, you're fine with changing the white and blue filter, that's the one I mean when I said internal. She'd never changed that, and was using a filter that is meant for ventilator patients and fits between the tubing and the machine.
I'm sorry, but if it's too much work to change that filter, using an extra one you get for free isn't the answer.
The thought that she'd been breathing through that wad of dirt and cat hair still makes me queasy.
Anyway, she complained to my manager, now I have to write her a letter of apology. *sigh*
Psst----- Barbara, I have Cigna too, since I work for Apria. Part of the deal I assume. I'm not sure I'd not buy my CPAP online too

someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...
Dear Jane,
I am writing with sincerest apologies. I should not have looked in your machine, I know how bad it can make you feel when someone sees how you live in filth. If you really want to go the white trash route the filters you wanted are not the way to go anyway. Just ball up a little toilet paper....doesnt have to be THAT clean. This might save you the money you so obviously need to feed all those cats....I noticed the fur. I know you must be lonely and it sure is nice of those cats to stick around, Im sorry no human being would want to share your life. I only hope that your cat box is cleaner than your CPAP....I would hate to think of you suffocating on amonia fumes from the urine. Please accept my apology, and thank you for giving me the opportunity to see how the "other" half lives. I have often wondered how the crazys live. Again...I am so sorry that I let you think I was trying to prove a point about your "dirtiness"....I truly did NOT think that point needed proving, you were quite obvious about it and I am sorry I missed all of the signs. I hope that the next time you need free services rather than the one you pay for elsewhere you will think of us. My manager assures me that we are in this business to help others....please ask for him by name if you are ever in need of anything insurance doesnt cover, I am sure he will be pleased to help you.
haha. Just off the top of my head....sorry. I couldnt help myself.

Take it easy on Jane, she's going to knit me a sweater from that cat hair. Jim
And it OK to clean off the filter with toilet paper, it doesn't all get brown you know.

I'm in CT and had a somewhat similar experience. I had to call about 10 different DME's before I could find one that would take the prescription directly from me rather than the sleep clinic forwarding it to them.BarbarainCT wrote:None of the DME's in Danbury would accept my prescription because I had Cigna insurance although I have a policy that lets me go out of network.
