I ignore it too!
I made LIP BALM tonight!!!!! Tomorrow we make soap!
My lip balm has local beexwax (dark amber in color--so still some honey in there--and it smells heavenly), coconut oil, cocoa butter, apricot kernal oil and a couple of drops of vanilla oleoresin and a couple of drops of orange essential oil. And a couple of slivers from a lip pencil that goes with my favorite lipstick to give it a hint of color. I had everything but the tubes until yesterday! Even Mitch got excited and he was dissapointed to see how much color it took on from the lip pencil, because now he can't use it. Now I'm wishing I had bought 100 tubes instead of 10. Now I'll have to order again! Darn!
I also made Christine's homemade bathroom cleanser because I finally found some washing soda (THANKS BABETTE!!!). I immediately went and cleaned the bathroom sink and it worked as good as or better than method brand cleaner. YEAH! Love it!
Do you think we should ask the forum admin to call christinequilts? Maybe its overreacting. Do you think someone said something to piss her off? It just seems weird to see her here every day for months and then not even one visit for 3 weeks or more.
Worrying about her means less worry about my surgery. I've been filling up my days with busy work. Today we shopped for and bought a lovely new dinette set for our eat in kitchen. I think it is going to look so awesome, I might just post pics after we pick them up!

That lip balm sounds very nice. Where do you get all of those ingredients to make it?
When we move to Vancouver, Washington, I'm thinking about buying a tanning salon (one with Mystic tan). I want to make some of my own body scrubs. I bought one from Beauty Control, but I was shocked that it cost $25. It was made with mint oils, and I LOVED how it felt on my skin. That one was actually called Show of Hands Instant Manicure. It worked well on your hands too. It made them really soft for the day.
I think I'd like to make my scrub with dead sea salts. I've seen some stuff on ebay, but I am not very knowledgeable about the quality of salts for beauty products.

Most of it came from the health food stores. They carry most or all of this stuff. Other stuff I bought online from some of the retailers mentioned above. I like the mms webpage

I don't know anything about tanning. Is this tanning beds or sprays?

Jen, I've only read the last few pages (I'm going to start from page 1 tonight and catch up) but I see you have referred to a surgery a few times. I don't know if you mention what you are having done in those pages, but I just want to wish you luck for whatever procedure you're having! When is your surgery?
Good luck Jen! I will be keeping you in my prayers all day on monday.
Keep us informed on your progress. I am having the same surgery later this year or early next year. I just keep putting it off so I can take time off for other things.
I am so tired. I went looking at wedding gifts for a friend. As much energy as I have these days.....Today was overkill. Went to sleep at 6 am woke at 10. Drove 2 hours and then stopped and had lunch with a friend, then drove 2 more hours home. Then cleaning, shopping for the wedding gift. This after a full work day yesterday and a 4 hour drive after work. I have pushed myself to my limit. Not over the limit yet....but close enough to know I need to relax and go to bed early.
I might make lip balm tommorow. We shall see.

I'd like to have both traditional beds and a sunless spray booth. The Mystic tan is a sunless tanning option where you get nekkid, go in to the booth (with shower cap and blockers on your hands and feet and get sprayed with color which evolves in hours. It's popular because it is healthier than exposing your skin to uv rays. Plus you are tan in one session. Some of the tanning beds takes several sessions to get tan.socknitster wrote:Most of it came from the health food stores. They carry most or all of this stuff. That's why I want to make my own body scrubs. It is important to shave and exfoliate before doing sunless tanning.

SleepingBeauty,
I'm having my tonsils out tomorrow, Monday. I had to take a xanax to be able to sleep last night. I'm ok when I keep myself occupied all day but when i let myself think about it I am feeling a little panic-y. The idea of not eating for a week (I love to eat!) is making me nervous. Volunteering for pain is making me nervous. I try to remind myself of the ultimate goals: not having tonsils that touch and gag me during allergy season, hopefully a lower pressure on my bipap. Fewer sore throats, hopefully in my future (I had 2 bouts with strep last winter). Thanks for the well-wishes!
Jennmary,
I'm so glad to hear that things are going well in all aspects of your life including your love-interest. Is he good with Faith? I hope things continue to bloom for you right now. Sometimes I forget how young you are! No one my age would consider staying up that late! No wonder you are tired!
Thanks for your well wishes too. I will let you know how it goes and give you advice for your upcoming tonsilectomy too!

Socknitster,
Don't let the not eating thing bug you about the tonsillectomy. You could be totally different and feel like eating. If you don't eat, it is because you just don't want to.
My tonsillectomy was the only surgery I've ever had. It is a pretty uneventful type of surgery. I think they do it as out patient surgery now don't they? Back when I had mine done (1983!! Now I'm telling my age!!), I had to stay for a couple of days. Not having the tonsils has been a wonderful blessing with the health I gained from it. I couldn't imagine having tonsilitis every year 3-5 times a year again. I was that way my whole life until I had them out.
Now that I have OSA, I'm especially glad I don't have them. My RT told me that since I have a small mouth, I probably have a small wind pipe, etc. which contributes to my problem.
Socknitster, please don't let it get to you. You will experience some soreness, but it will be short-lived. It is much less of a recovery than some other surgeries.

Thanks Jen. I also got a job transfer offer from the sheriffs dept. I currently work for the DA.....but Sheriffs are trying to steal me away. I had some trouble at work recently and am seriously considering the move.
Just seems like everything is working out right now. Everything has been in turmoil for years. So it is nice to have things just start falling into place.
He is great with Faith. Although she has only met him as one of my friends....and he hasnt spent much time with her. I dont want her getting too attached to someone that isnt in it for the long haul. But we are getting there.
This was the first time in years that I managed to stay awake that late. Last time I went dancing with friends I had to cut out at 11 because I was just too tired to keep my eyes open.
Serious cleaning today. Then lip balm making if I still have the time. Thinking about steaming the carpets, depends how much time and energy I have.
Anyone have a natural remedy to keep away spiders....or even better yet kill them? We have a HUGE problem with black widows this year, I worry every time Faith wants to go outside, but I hate standing there spraying tons of raid in her play area. It takes the dang things forever to die.

We do get our house sprayed. As long as there is time for drying, it usually pretty harmless. Here in Arizona, desert roaches will invade your landscaping if you don't. When I moved here from San Diego, I couldn't believe how many you would see!! It was pretty gross.

You are WISE beyond your years, Jenn! That is very, very smart! Taking things slowly and making sure each step of the way things are good is critical when a child is involved. Try to enjoy the cleaning--in a weird way I get such a sense of satisfaction from it. I don't always enjoy doing it, but I love looking at a tidy house--makes having friends over less stressful too!dont want her getting too attached to someone that isnt in it for the long haul. But we are getting there.
Treesap, Don't worry! I'm not upset by what you said! This is my third surgery in 3 years and it should be the easiest of the three. Believe me, if I can possibly eat, I will!
I know from experience to set an alarm to take my meds in the middle of the night too because if you let them drop off and the pain comes back, it can take hours to get the pain under control again. I'm grateful for your honesty, really. And a 20 year old who has never had surgery is in a different place than a 35 year old who has already had 2 that should theoretically be worse. And yes, this is outpatient. In and out in just a few hours barring complications.
I did end up buying the neutrogena microderm kit, a face steamer and the stick vac I mentioned. I was baaaaaad. But my review so far is: the microderm kit is just as good as the real thing, which I have done in the past so I'm qualified to say that.
The face steamer ($20, Target, homemedics brand) could put off more steam, but it is useful with ocm.
The stick vac is AWESOME! It is a purple "quick up" $30 from Target. I am marketing this as a toy as well (for Harry) and it is going over so well! It picks up my hair and the cat litter in the bathroom and crumbs in the kitchen and Harry is enjoying vacuuming everywhere else--you wouldn't believe the amount of cat hair we pulled out of that thing, and I had just vacuumed a day or two before with a full size!
Jenn,
Before you switch jobs, interview some potential co-workers at the new office to see what the working enviroment is like. Don't want to go from frying pan to fire, K? Also, make sure you get a pay raise!

We have spiders in the midwest and they annoy me but they don't sound scary like yours! Yikes!
Ours are tiny.

Yeah....I have heard our sheriffs dept has a hard time keeping people. So I plan on talking to a few people I know out there to get a clue as to what is going on. Plus if I am going to switch I want to move up.....not just into another mess. You are so smart Jen.
I know it is dumb to say dont worry about the surgery. I would be just as worried. Surgery is scary no matter how "small" some people say it is. Especially for us apnea sufferers. Deep down our body KNOWS what happens to us when we are unconcious. I can understand why you would get a burst of nerves before hand. I think it is only normal.
But I know you are going to pull through and be just fine....Then in a month we will be hearing about a new baby on the way. lol
