Welcome!!!!

Good advice about the machines, I researched both the respironics machines and the puritan bennet ones and found it hard to choose between the two brands, but the bottom line for me was that I wanted to make sure that the machine I got had FULL data capability as discussed above. I check my data every night and within a couple of months have gotten excellent results that I could never have gotten without the data reporting abilities.

The second thing is to get a good mask. That's harder. I went to a local DME (my insurance covered most of it otherwise I'd have gone to cpap.com) and they helped me by trying on several different masks. Many DMEs wont do this, though. They will generally charge much more for their masks compared to the online DME's.

However, I later found a hospital with a sleep clinic that will work with me and let me try on quite a few masks and did a better job than the DME. This service was free, though I did find another hospital where they charged a small fee but insurance usually paid for that (in line with an office visit). I did have to call a number of hospitals and they didn't have the mask fitting and so ended up driving about an hour, but well worth the time. Since these folks aren't selling the masks, I felt I got impartial treatment. I plan to go back another time or two before I get another mask.

Good luck and keep checking back.

Wow I am almost in the exact same situation. I was diagnosed Monday. I need a pressure of 7. It looks like this post answered most of the questions I had about what to choose. A lot of good information.

[quote="rooster"]I am considering buying a machine from cpap.com. Is a photocopy of my prescription acceptable or do they require an original?
