Was browsing this page at Resmed and came across a referred link and surprise surprise (and a delight) there was a reference to other helpful resources & a link to http://www.cpaptalk.com

So the world turns and attitudes change - a good thing.

(go to the bottom of the Resmed page and look at the 'Helpful Web Sites link)

There are published statistics that list men & women in particular age groups. Here are some links to various statistics ... there are many more ...

UK http://www.osaonline.com/prevalence.asp?order=2

Canada http://www.sleep-breathing.bc.ca/osa4.htm

USA http://www.lungusa.org/site/pp.asp?c=dvLUK9O0E&b=35771

etc: etc:

opps, 3rd link above was incorrect shd have been

http://www.lungusa.org/site/pp.asp?c=dvLUK9O0E&b=35771

It was a link where the page was displayed from within a doc on my website & thus when I went to it & captured the link it only captured the link to my site rather than the target site.

Fixed it in the original post.

The data shown is from 2005 but is still pretty well on target.

No special surprise, though, that the USA site doesn't include this site. Does have the first three listed in the Australian site, though. http://www.resmed.com/en-us/patients/re ... u=patients

It said sleep apnea is rarely seen in pre-menopausal women; I feel so freakin' special.

heheh, well... it may be rarely seen because it's not usually LOOKED FOR. Many in the medical profession still expect it only in the popular "profile"... in overweight, middleaged men. If they bother to watch for it at all.

I snored horribly from my teen years on throughout my life. I was always normal weight. And a female, I might add. LOL! I doubt that any doctor would ever have suspected OSA in me.

I believe there are vast numbers of young women out there who have sleep apnea to a degree that they should be using CPAP. Doctors aren't trained or educated to look for it in them...even when the woman speaks to the doctor about fatigue or daytime sleepiness problems.

Hells belles, I'm not so sure just how many professional sleep doctors are really "tuned in" ..... or who stay "tuned in" after they've gotten a patient thru the sleep evaluation and titration process.

Tsk, tsk, such a pessimist I've become!! Darn the doctor who stepped on my rose colored glasses!!

Some employee who keeps an eagle-eye on cpaptalk passed the word along, I suppose.

So much for the title of THIS thread......"Someone loves cpaptalk ".....NOT!

"As the CPAP blows."

It would seem that this would be a further indication that any discussion about software availability which names sources should only take place via private message. Of course, that would raise the question of whether the person seeking the software is a shill...
