Would there be any interest in all of us listing the associated medical
conditions we have/had with Sleep Apnea to see how prevalent certain
things are, and give hope to beginners that certain conditions can
actually correct after starting PAP treatment. For example, I first got
night sweats and racing heart, with waking up scared, then came
morning headaches, then Erectile Disfunction, then depression, then
anxiety, before starting PAP. After a couple of months of treatment I
don't get the headaches, nightly sweats, heart racing, ED and the
depression and anxiety are gone. I have a hypothryoid condition which
I take Synthroid for.
A thread like this may give folks a feeling of the commonality of
symptons and give some hope that things can get better.
I have no idea if PAP makes you gain or lose weight, or if PAP makes
your BP go up or down.
Just a thought.

Meister,
I remember a thread quite a while back that asked this exact question. I'm sure you'll get some participants this time around along with responses from the many new members, but you may want to search back for this thread and get some background on some familiar forum members and their associated medical conditions.

Excellent point, Wader, about "Search" as a useful tool. In the meantime newcomers will be pouring over the most recent topics on this first page, so it's always good to bring up important info like this again and again, imho. Good idea, Meister. Glad to hear that your machine is relieving a lot of other problems for you at the same time it's taking care of the OSA.
Does November qualify me as an old-comer? Don't call me old...!!!rested gal wrote:Excellent point, Wader, about "Search" as a useful tool. Let's see......
Heart racing -- had that at night when waking up so often, now gone (gone first day of treatment).
Severe daytime exhaustion, uncontrollable nodding off -- had that, now gone (I now can handle long drives without needing to stop and rest).
High Blood Pressure -- had that, it started a year before OSA diagnosis. (Am still being treated, but have noticed that when I cheat and not take meds, even for more than one day, the BP level is fairly moderate).
Thyroid levels -- slightly off, still being treated with meds. (haven't been tested again yet)
Diabetes -- didn't have it, but was considered possibly border-line (don't know if that assessment has changed)
Weight loss -- only some, at this point.
Bad knees and bad lower back -- (oh well, doesn't cure everything!)
General sleepiness -- (not the extreme exhaustion), still have some, requiring occasional nap.
Depression/brain fog -- had those (greatly alleviated, but left with heightened sense of emotions -- once dormant -- which seem to have run amuk).
