I asked my dme to order this mask today for me and she said that she could but am I aware that this is a very old mask. I told her it was updated from the old style but I did not realize it was so dated. Is this true?

The Twilight NP (NP stands for Nasal Pillow), which used to be called Aura and then got called HeadRest and is all of two years old. It looks like this:
http://www.aeiomed.com/headrest.asp

The nasal seal has been improved in that time - many companies change something in the mask after the mask has been in use for a while - e.g. Respironics changing headgear for the Comfort Curve, ditto Hand Rudolph, Hybrid getting both a new headgear and I believe chin part, etc. That happens more with newer masks actually - a reaction to real life experiece with them.

Are you sure she's ordering the right mask?

Edit: Where the DME shoud order the HeadRest (till recently called Twilight NP:)

She might be referring to the Twilight which is not the same as the Twilight NP. So double check with her to make sure she knows what you are talking about and ordering the correct one.
