After one night with the Hybrid, I am thinking this one might be a keeper. It is too soon to tell, but I feel that I slept more soundly and wakened less frequently. I think I may have had the mask a little to tight, so I will tinker around with adjustments, but I felt I had a really good seal on it most of the night.
One thing was that I had a little difficulty with a damp/sweaty chin flap a couple of times, but I don't want to cut it off yet, since I like the snug feeling it provides. I do want the seal that "third, large hole" as goofproof is fond of saying, and the Hybrid definitely worked better for me than the F&P 531 (only other FF mask I have tried).
Just sharing this newbie's first Hybrid experience, for what it's worth

Great!
Great to hear it might be a keeper for you!!!!!!!!!!!
It's great to find a mask you like! It does have so many adjustments! I just never could get a good seal - because of my pesky nose!
Congrats! Keep us updated!

I've been using the hybrid since it first came out last summer and I've been very happy with it. It took some fiddling but I've got all the adjustments figured out so that it works for me. I routinely have AHI's around or lower than 2.
About the "damp/sweaty chin flap": I have not cut off my chin flap because I like the stability that it gives the mask. To deal with that clammy feeling from the chin flap, I cut a small piece of cotton gauze and place it between my chin and the chin flap. I just sort of jam it in there so it's flat but doesn't interfere with the sealing cushion. Try that. It works for me.

I'm also a newbie who is liking the hybrid. I have tried the comfortful and the ultra mirage and the fp flexifit and all of them had severe leak issues for me due to the fact that I could only ever get it to seal at the bridge of my nose or my mouth, but rarely both places no matter how many times I watched the provider videos or read the instructions. I was very frustrated!
Then came the hybrid. Fits very well with no real problems. My nares start to burn after a couple of hours so tonight I think I will try the ayr gel that someone mentioned a while back. Perhaps that will help. When I am mid-sleep I am not capable of rational decision making and just take it off. Going to try to stop myself from doing that tonight. I could use a good nights sleep and I have yet to have one on cpap.

Besides the stability that Mary points out, I find that my mouth feels less dry when I wake up compared to the other masks I've tried (UMFF, Liberty). I think it is because the chin cup/flap helps kep my mouth shut atleast part of the night. The extreme dry mouth I was getting was very annoying, I'm happy that the Hybrid helped in that respect.Maryb wrote:Jabberwock-
