What do you think of my mask plan?

Post by Newsgrouper » Mon Mar 28, 2005 9:33 am

At the end of April the VA will be giving me a Respironics CPAP with C-Flex & Heated Humidification. I will also be getting a Respironics Comfort Gel mask because I did "OK" with it at my sleep test. I've been mostly lurking here for a couple of weeks and trying to learn as much as I can.

From my reading I think I like the Breeze nasal mask. I am a side sleeper and it seems so much less cumbersone than many other masks I am seing. My pressure is 9 and that doesn't seem to me a problem. I want to buy it and bring it to the VA sleep people when they fit me for the issued equipment. They will help fit it and adjust it as needed.

I am also thinking of getting the Breeze Dreamseal attachment to give me the option to switch between it and the nasal pillows. I have sensitive skin and will likely need to switch from time to time. Please let me know if this is a viable option.

Sounds good.

I have been on CPAP for 6 months, and best advice I could give is to have two masks, minimum.

I believe that discomfort is the primary reason people take mask off after a couple of hours. If I wake up and take off my mask, I just slide on a different one. It works for me.

The dreamseal for the Breeze is reportedly very leaky. Wouldn't recommend it.
