Twilight NP Aura/Headrest = Nice!

Post by Dark_Star » Thu May 24, 2007 3:39 pm

Just got a new mask .. Twilight NP Aura/Headrest

In a word.. NICE.. VERY NICE (ok 3 words)

It is my first nasal pillow mask and it worked great for me last night... I slept 5 hours (ya 5 hrs in a row....without waking up ).

I used the Twilight last night 'stock' out of the box (or bag in it's case) .. with the addition of a strap made of panty hose. (ala Rested Gal and Linda3032 many message posts and advice)

The nasal pillows are very comfortable and my inner nostrils do not hurt today or anything.

But ... THE HEADGEAR SUCKS.

There is no possible way that I could tighten it ... without adding the extra straps.

SO.... today ...I followed Rested Gal's advice and de-cap-itated it!

I have my Panty-Hose tights ready and Polident strips in hand.....I am ready for tonight.

ONE THING THOUGH....

Man... the air through the nasal pillows is like a hurricane coming thru my nose compared to the nasal mask...(at 10cm ) I guess it will take a little bit of getting used to... Also the air is a lot warmer then before.

Has anyone lowered their pressure setting .. when using a nasal pillow vs a traditional mask?

Also .. I need to figure out what to do with all the hose .... since it is free from headgear now.

Thanks.. Dark Star

CPAP therapy started on 5/5/07.

Yup, hang it from above.

The first thing I felt when I put my Twilight NP on for the first time was my nostrils inflating. Kinda weird, but I got used to it pretty quickly.

You might find you want a higher humidifier setting on nasal pillows than a nasal mask. Other than that, get some Ayr gel. It's 4 dollars and will last you several months. Might as well soften the transition for yourself.

blarg.. thanks for the input. I will try cranking up the humidity. I dabbed a little cream on my nostrils too

So far... this is well worth the $100 ... could be the best possible interface for me. I don't even mind that I modified (destroyed) the headgear.. . The way I see it...... one must do what they need to do for comfort.

I added a comfortable pad (made from part of a sock) for my forehead.

With my 2 pantyhose 'straps' .. black of course .. I am ready to go.

I found that the headgear works just fine for me and doesn't even need the rubber band trick to seal properly. In fact, the head gear was set just right for me right out of the box!

OTH, I should mention that I shave my head. By the time I go to bed I have just enough stubble that the straps stay put right where I put them. It's as fast to put on and take off as my breeze was.

Moral of the story is, if the straps don't stay put, just shave your head!

I definitely agree. The way the exhaust is arranged, combined with how the pillows hide on the edges of your nose, it's really great. I think the headgear could be better if they just made a version with straps across the face, but if they don't, that's fine too. I was suprised how easily it all came off.

Does it exhaust up instead of out like the Breeze? If so, I might try it. Love my Breeze, but partner hates to receive the cold blast.

Yup, that's exactly it. It exhausts straight up like a chimney.

I aways thought the aura should just come with a pair of pantyhose.

I added a comfortable pad (made from part of a sock) for my forehead.
Those cosmetic applicator pads (circular) work great for a forehead pad.

I really like the Twilight for the therapy it gives me - no other mask gives me the low AHI numbers like the Twilight - and I've de-capitated it too.
