ResMed S6 Lightweight pressure setting instructions?

Post by rodofdallas » Thu May 24, 2007 3:35 pm

Hello All,
I am new to the forum but thought I would see if any one here could help me. I have been using a ResMed S6 lightweight and what ever mask originally came with it for quite a while with very good results. That mask is worn out so I bought an Opus direct nasal mask to replace it. The Opus is much more comfortable to wear but the old pressure setting is to high. I cannot exhale against the air flow and after 5 or 6 breaths I have to exhale through my mouth. I think the pressure was correct for my leaky old mask but too high for the opus. Does any one have the instructions for reducing the pressure of the ResMed S6 lightweight? I would much appreciate the info.

See if these instructions work.

Den

ResMed cpap S6

1. machine must be shut off
2. press START and TIMER 20 MINUTES buttons at the same time
3. switch on machine using master switch at the backside of the machine
4. using TIMER 5 MINUTES and TIMER 10 MINUTES buttons increase or decrease pressure (pressure setting is shown on display at reverse side of machine)
5. complete setting by pushing STOP button once
6. now the machine is set to the new pressure and will remember that when being shut off on switched on again

Spot on - as Den says - the main issue is knowing what pressure the machine is at (IIRC the S6 doesn't have the leds showing pressure like some of the the Sullivan models do).

Once you change the pressure you may be lost as to what to set the machine to. cpap.com sell inexpensive manometers as well as high quality dial gauges.

(IIRC) The cheaper ones sell in the range of $20-30 & are quite adequate for rough settings. Some innovators here have built home made guages from clear tubing - only needs to be 1/4 dia max & a cork etc: is a good enough seal to fit the tube to the air outlet.

Anyone got a link to the pics of the home made gauge ?
