I appreciate the sentiment, littlebaddow, but even if one were offered, I think I'd turn it down at this point. I'm keeping an eye out so that I'll have one handy the next time I have been sleeping pretty well and feel up to trying again. I'm in a particularly stressful time at work right now (will be for the next couple of months), and so I don't expect that to be any time soon, and I wouldn't want to be that guy who borrows his neighbors weed whacker and never returns it...

But thanks for the thought!

Liam, who avoids being that guy by never whacking his weeds....

Had a Pro 2 w/CFLEX.

I don't expect the auto to fix all of my problems. I just figure if I can find a reliable used one for 50% of CPAP.COM's price or less, it'd be worth buying just to have available for future tries.

Liam, two months of Wader and he's finally on the auto-boat.

Oh Liam!
I want to wish you well in whatever you decide. Did you have an autopap machine? Maybe that'd be a better alternative, less pressure, more comfort? Just a thought....I agree the CPAP felt like my brains (what I have left) during the straight titration study cpap machine, was horrific.
Don't listen to those who lecture you, you hang in there, ok?

Listen to your heart, and we do hope all works out for you. Keep posting, you're still a fellow hose head. take the time off...............we still value your humor and insight.

Best wishes,
Gailzee

Which means I am now officially no longer a hosehead. I wish I knew what I was gonna do next, but I'm stumped. I'm back to getting about 60% of the rest I need, instead of almost 0% of it with the machine on...

I suppose I should just resolve myself to exhaustion and an early death.

Liam, discouraged.

Best of luck to you Liam. I empathise with you, having walked in your shoes a few miles and years ago. I couldn't tolerate the mask either. I had an advantage over you though, in the fact I didn't care about my singing voice (it weas horrible at best) so I went ahead and had unsuccessful surgery. To this day I have to be careful of my head position when I drink. After all that I still had severe OSA and still couldn't stand the mask. I barely stood nasal pillows, and slept about 2-3 hours a night. Then got a Monarch Minimask (kind of looks like the new one Respironics is coming out with without the pads) and put the machine away for a little over a year. I started using it again at my wife's insistence after I became diabetic and depressed. She couldn't stand me nodding off at the dinner table and everywhere else, including behind the wheel. I must honestly say I never slept really well on the thing until my Activa mask. Now I do, so hang in there, if I can do it, anyone can. You just need to be ready. At this point you still have other options to explore. I would look seriously at dental appliances. They will not affect your voice and are not as miserable as surgery. Do your research before you let them cut you. I know I'm not the only one who wasn't cured! You are right to stick around. If and when you decide to try cpap again you will have a lot of good information about what might or might not work for you. See you in Norwood maybe!!
