You must use real people in your mask testing lab...... fat people....skinny people.....big heads....little heads....bald heads....bearded faces......smooth faces........low pressure....high pressure......make sure each mask fits perfectly in each situation.......Apap......Cpap.......Bipap. The mask must be comfortable.............No tight straps......no bulky headgear........each mask should be adjustable so that the patient can switch from Nasal mask to Nasal Pillow with one simple adjustment. Each interface should come with Silicone Cushions....Gel cushions......Petite size....XS.....Med.....Med Plus.......Large......X Large and ....Super large. Also available in Shallow. Remember......All masks must be Latex free.
OK....do you want the Job ?????

Rich, I sure you've given some of the "real" mask designers a good laugh. Maybe Johnny can print out your post and circulate it around at the spring MedTrade show.
RG, make sure you get that golded parachute, because that job would send anyone running for the hills. I know you'd give it a good shot though.

Rested Gal,
Thanks for the experiments on the Aura! My first night was a disaster. Could not keep the headgear stable on my head. My husband says I have a "pea head". I cannot get a chin strap to stay on. I think my head must be pointy. Anyway, I tried your extra strap last night and WOW. Stayed in place all night, side sleeper, tossing and turning. No air leaks that I am aware of. Woke up twice and had to feel to make sure it was still on. Only problem I had was a bad case if "rainout", don't know why, nothing changed. Took mask off, shook some water out, put back on and turned over. Been having dry nose anyway, little water wont hurt.
Since I am trying an autopap this month, not sure what pressure I am reaching. Probably will have to add the pantyhose if I have to go back to my bilevel with the 18/14 setting. Will know next week what my numbers are. Excited to see, hoping I can keep the auto.
Anyway thanks for all the help you give us on this board. You are greatly appreciated.

Well after reading TH's post on TAS TALKED WITH AEIOMED GIVE AURA A TRY
I am glad to hear that they will stand behind their product. I would much rather hear them say that they are coming out with the larger size pillow tho...

RG, you are amazing though. You could make a good living either as a therapist in SA or as a writer of a book on the pratical guide to SA. I am not kidding!
On another note, I am almost ready to pull the trigger on an Aura. I have not done a nose pillow type before and have been mostly happy with my Activa, but some nights I need a change and would love to have the hose out of my way in the front while I toss and turn and rock and roll. Also I pull out the rubber on my activa a lot. Would my fellow lovers of the Activa say this is the next best thing and a good alternative? Since CPAP .com is out of stock, any of you that are giving up on it interested in selling?

hi Guest,
You make a good point....
In the same way that I want to take a big role in my own treatment regarding machine/software, I'm also willing to deal with my own comfort issues. If a mask manufacturer will go 90% of the way to produce something really good, I don't mind going a few steps more to make it work perfectly for me.
Actually, an Extra Large nasal part would be more useful than extra straps with the Aura. They sure better hurry up with the "Extra Large", because without it, they aren't coming anywhere close to providing many people a good experience with an otherwise excellent interface.
Ideally, you're right - it would be nice if everything we might need to make something work came with it. Including a roll of adhesive tape.

If it weren't such a comfortable interface, I wouldn't have bothered working with it at all. But since it's the most comfy mask at the snout that I've ever used for toss 'n turn side sleeping, it was worth it (to me) to spend a few extra minutes thinking about a quick fix or two - in order to get a LOT of hours of good sleep in the future.Seems like a lot of effort just to get a mask to work...
Why bother buying it if it doesn't already have these extra straps attached to make it work ?

I've found the "rubber band" trick to work best for me. Although, I did have to buy a large assorted bag of different sized bands & thickness to find the perfect size. Thinner bands seem to do the best, as well as longer sizes....I've found the perfect bands for my Aura & now sleep like I'm a drooling fool!

I have been using the Aura for about 2 weeks- It fits and does not leak for me-[ I have a large head size- pressures from 8 to 14]
the problem with it is rainout- it is much more prone to rain than the Swift- at least in my experience. It stays put better than Swift though- so now I am working on getting rainout solved with cover for air hose-
sort of a never ending quest with this apnea business I think-
anyhow- there is my 2 cents packer

It's much more prone to rainout. You can largely fix this by doing the following (arranged by order of cost):
1. Fashion a cover for the small hose going from the pillows to the main hose.
2. If you haven't, cover the main hose.
3. Cover the sides of the piece with the pillows themselves.
4. Get an Aussie hose.
I did all 4 and now I don't get a single drop of rainout, and I use my humidifier on max.
