The DME did not charge CIGNA that amount, that's the amount CIGNA contracted with the DME to pay. Actually, thats probably the billed amount which has nothing to do with the amount the DME actually recieves.
And again, the insurance sets the price they pay, the DME does NOT set the price they bill the insurance.
DME's ripping off the insurance companies..
OK-so I just got back from the DME-my Resmed S7 Elite came back after 2 months and guess what Resmed couldn't get the machine to shut down like it was doing for me. Anyways-I asked the 2 RTs if they had my mask in stock or would they have to order it. When they heard it was an Oracle the one RT said-how did you get that mask-no one does well with it-everyone HATES it. I told her I saw a pic of it figured what the heck and bought one for $85(hey living in Vegas I've dumped that much into a slot machine in less than 15 minutes). The 2 of them just kept looking at me like I was from another planet just because I found and love my mask. I could tell the one was trying to tell me I would never be able to use it until I said-I've used it for the last 10 months and just ordered my 3rd. The whole point was-I wanted to see how much I would have to pay by going through the DME. I'll give a call later in week to see if they can give me a ballpark figure.
