Lincare Part I

Post by gster » Wed May 09, 2007 3:57 pm

i called them to inform them i am getting a smell so bad through my hose that it wakes me up at night. it is a burning smell kind of like auto exhaust. they told me it was from the vinagar i use. i bought a new chamber for my resmed and the smell still comes and goes. 1 day it's there then i go 3 or 4 days and then it is back. i called them again and told them i bought a new water chamber and smell comes and goes. she told me i can't buy from anyone else. she said it was conflict of interest, whatever that means.

so 2 calls, machine is still under warranty and they will not service it because it is my fault. i boiled vinageer and it does not smell like this.

Remove the humidifier water tank. Turn your xPAP over and write down the serial number.

Call your Lincare back and ask them if they are aware of the Recall by Resmed on various S8 machines and give them the serial number of your machine.

You SHOULD be one of the FIRST to have their S8 replaced since you have experienced that burning smell. If you have any problems w/Lincare about this call Resmed direct on their 800 number.

i asked them when this smell started if they were aware of the recall by Resmed, their answer was no and they did not seem to concerned. my serial number is not on the recall list.

They were concerned with me going away but that ain't happening.

I need Resmed intervention and it seems thing will work out okay now. Wait till Lincare finds out i want to see box opened in front of me. They gave me a used one when i first got my machine and i had to remind them i am owed a new one when they arrive.

thanks slinky.

Do a search for Resmed Recall, to see if your machine serial number is on the list of those recalled. Lincare won't help you? I would contact Resmed directly.

I would think a burning smell coming from the machine would qualify as one of the reasons behind why they are doing the $60 million recall.

It is one thing to have a burning smell but quite another to be breathing in that smoke/fumes. As with any xpap machine, it will suck that smoke inside the machine's intake and deliver it directly to your lungs, something you don't want happening at all. I would stop using the machine if it is doing what you say it is.

Then I would get that jokers name at Lincare you have been dealing with, note the dates, times of your contact, if the call was a toll call, you should have their number on a phone bill.

Then I would draft a demand letter to Lincare sent via Certified mail with a CC: copy to my attorney and insurance carrier complaint department of the events that have transpired to date and how Lincare has ignored the problem.

Include in that letter a copy of the Resmed press release where the machine is being recalled for that very problem you have been complaining about to Lincare and they have ignored the problem.

If your attorney is any kind of a shark at all, he will be circling that one like chum in the water.

someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...

Gster. since your S8's serial number is not on the Recall list I would think that Resmed will be very interested in your machine.

they are unterested. as of wed. night there was a message from my buddy at Resmed in California saying things should be taken care of in a few days. It is going to be like walking into the Lion's Den when i visit Lincare. And when i tell em i want to see box opened in front of my eyes it will send shock waves through Lincare's World. I am such a nice guy. he-he

Right on, Gster! Watch every piece of paper that comes outta that box and make sure it goes back IN the box! Also hover over their shoulder as they set the pressure range(s). That oughtta REALLY make them happy and overjoyed w/you! Like who gives a rat's rear, right??

I found once I had a comfortable fitting mask I had no need of my xPAP DME and the less contact "we" had the BETTER!!! I'm counting the months until my "rental" is over and I have no need to EVER be in contact w/them again. Meanwhile, I've found a different DME for my 02 supplies who will provide me w/my masks and supplies, and once the rental period is over w/this jerk DME supplier, my 02 DME will provide any necessary maintenance, etc. on my xPAP too.
