I tried disconnecting the hose from the machine, but I didn't feel like I was getting enough air when I was off the machine.
That is why I disconnect higher with less hose to drag and fall in the bacteria pool.
Some people may be able to take off the mask from their head. I find it easier not to have to suit up again and adjust. I just stick two ends of hoses together.
embarrasing newbie question

One thing I don't see mentioned, but did happen to me:
Make sure you breath through your mouth when you disconnect the mask (assuming you aren't using a hybrid or anything that covers the mouth). I've had a few times where I was almost sleep-walking so to speak, and I found I would forget and be breathing stale air. Now I just take off the mask.

Andrea.....
After you get the system "tweaked" and "tuned", you'll notice that trips to the potty (in the middle of the night) will get fewer and fewer.
Just before I became a "hosehead" back in September, I figured out that my blood pressure was out of control at night......and that caused me to make a potty trip at least once a night.
In about 60-days..... successful APAP with a good mask......helped to bring my BP under control.....and the nightly trips to the potty all but ceased.
Concentrate on learning how to use the reports that your software gives you.......tweak your system........get your AHI down to a lower average......cut the snores to a minimum.......and you won't have to worry about disconnecting in the middle of the night.
In the meantime, I suggest a "quick disconnect" coupling..... installed at the joint between your mask hose....and the 6' hose connected to your humidifier.

wow I slept through the nite over the weekend, meaning no bathroom trips. I was actually not too tired to do things this weekend. I'm starting to think this might actually work!!!
I'm not a mouth breather so I dont have dry mouth. I dont see how you could w/ the CPAP machine, I open my mouth and my ears plug up. A most uncomfortable feeling.

That didnt show up on my test. I dont think I open my mouth. I'm a camper and really afraid to let bugs in my mouth !!! lol I hate bugs.
I think I get some little air leaks when I roll around, I find myself adjusting through the nite.
Thats my next prob, trying to figure out how to go camper with this gizmo!! I'm going to try the power inverter from the car. Hopefully that will do it.
