Apnea & Normal Blood Pressure

Post by Yoga » Mon Mar 21, 2005 10:58 pm

My husband snores but has normal blood pressure.

I am wondering if there is anyone who has apnea and normal blood pressure.

I will be looking forward to your replies.

I have normal blood pressure

Post by noahmckinnon » Mon Mar 21, 2005 11:02 pm

I'm considered a mild apneac. I snore sometimes though not too loudly. I am a 34 year-old male. 5' 10" 145 lbs. My blood pressure is usually in the normal range. Last resting measurement was 125/75

Yoga, I snored like a freight train all my life and always had normal blood pressure readings. Still normal BP today - but no more snoring... on autopap!

I always had pretty low BP, like 110/62. Pre-CPAP my BP was still "Normal" but more like 140/82. Since being on CPAP it is back in the low range. Yesterday it was 114/62. So, while I was still considered "normal" it was high normal.

My blood pressure has been normal all my life. Gets up to 120/80.
I have very severe apnea. You sound like me. I always listened to
the "Don't smoke, don't drink, and keep your blood pressure normal
and you will be OK message". Well, I religiously did all three and still
have had major health issues to contend with. A trip to the cardiologist
is probably in order, in which you can get a good workup from a stress test.

I am 58, (today) and have "excellent blood pressure" (says the doc) and was diagnosed with sleep apnea las fall and have been on CPAP since Dec_01_04 - so there does not seem to be a correlation.

Apnea & Blood Pressure

Post by divajojo » Tue Mar 22, 2005 2:52 pm

Okay,

I've just read several posts from people with normal blood pressure that it appears there's no correlation between high blood pressure and sleep apnea. I would like to get some feedback from the general public as that string of posts was in response to someone looking specifically for people with sleep apnea and NORMAL blood pressure. My blood pressure is what prompted my primary care physician to request a sleep study for me. I was diagnosed with HBP and started on two very strong medicines. Even with major modifications to my diet, adding practically a gallon of water a day (literally) and walking, my pressure wouldn't go below 170/110. I'd like to hear from the general public on this forum to find out if anyone else discovered sleep apnea as a result of high blood pressure and what improvements your therapy made.
I have never seen the righteous forsaken . . .
