Mask Selection Assitance

Post by bob_duke » Sun Apr 15, 2007 7:53 pm

I've been fighting my CPAP for the last year or so. There have been a number of side effect, but all in all it's mostly under control. But the mask is not comfortable.

I have been using a Mirage Swift primarily, but also tried a ComfortLite 2 for a while. I toss and turn frequently during the night, which frequently causes leaks, which wakes me up. So any new mask must be good for those conditions.

Before purchasing a new mask I thought I might get some input. Suggestions?

Hey Bob! Cool name

Your question was asked earlier today ... check out this link.

Welcome to the hose gang.

Hope you find yourself a comfortable mask soon.

Best of luck!

I'm in the same boat re mask. I have tried several, and this one works better than any, but I am awakened several times throughout the night by leaks -- I have to have a full-face mask. Puritan Bennett is supposed to have a new full-face mask coming out soon, and I am eager to see and try it. I use the Puritan Bennett GoodKnight, and love it. The mask is the bugaboo.

For people that toss and turn I've really liked the Twilight NP (decapitated and/or with extra strap), Soyala, and Activa.

Keep in mind everyone's different, but yeah, a hose coming out of the side of a mask isn't exactly conducive to a toss and turn sleeper.

Choosing a popular mask

When I try to select a mask, I feel overwhelmed beccause I need to find the best mask for me and there are so many different opinions out there.

Bob_duke, I am wondering if you feel that way too?

So what I have done is to use the popularity reports on
https://www.cpap.com/cpap-user-preference.php coupled with comments from my DME to select a mask.

I would like to use popularity reports based on usage by members of this forum as I suspect that users of this forum are more skilled than the buyers of cpap.com.

Is it possible to publish a report showing the number of users for each mask for members of this forum?

If the database used for this forum is in Access and I was sent the database (it is after all public data) I would be willing to analyse the data and provide the report.

Just another idea.
