I have found a way to fill my machine with water without removing the humidifier. the only time i have to remove the hmidifier is to clean it.

Drill 1/4" hole in top of humidifier near the hose conection insert 1/4" clear plastic tubbing available at any med supply (about 6 feet long) now drill same hole in top of gallon jug cap insert other end of hose in jug. when you tip the jug the water funs in to fill humidifier when full place jug on floor flow of water will stop
key is to insert tubbing only a half inch or so do not insert far enough to touch water level in humidifier or jug this way you will get no siphoning back and forth i have found it works great.

Slide the tank off. Hold the tank with the inlet down, outlet up. Fill it to the line on the side thru the outlet . Slide the tank into the spirit humidifier. No problem.

Or buy a funnel with a flex hose and just slip it in.

Cheers,
