Newbie seeking advice: High CA

Post by gavobavo » Sat May 02, 2026 8:12 am

Hi!

I'm brand new to using a CPAP machine, this is my first week. I'm excited to finally fix my sleep. I was prescribed a Resmed Airsense 11 Autoset with a pressure of 5-20 (which I found out quickly was a bad/generic prescription). I have since changed it to 8-13. I use an Evora Full Face mask.

I've uploaded a picture of last nights data. I seem to have no OAs at all, but a large amount of CAs at 8.22. What could be causing this? Is there anything glaringly wrong about my settings? I turned both ramp and EPR off since I found them to be uncomfortable.

I appreciate any advice I can get!

Some questions that the answers might point us to better ideas.

1...What is the altitude where you are at?
2...Did you sleep soundly or did you wake up especially at the time you see the CA/Central cluster?
3...Did you have any mention of central apneas on your sleep study of more than maybe 1 or 2 or 3 per hour?

Your centrals don't seem to be related to pressures as they seem to be flagged when the pressure is not really all that high. So I don't think you need to reduce your pressures at this time.

Depending on your answers to the questions you might consider turning EPR off..

Consider using the free software at SleepHQ and share the report.....SleepHQ lets us actually zoom in on the graphs and better evaluate of those flagged centrals are real sleep centrals or if they are more related to being awake or half awake.
It's normal to have a handful of Central Apneas (called CA on the OSCAR reports) so not necessarily meaningful if you weren't sound asleep when they were flagged.
