Gluing tongue to roof of mouth
Gluing tongue to roof of mouth
Hey all, chipmunk cheeks have been a nightmare to deal with and has been the main obstacle in treating my sleep apnea. Chipmunk cheeks happen because my tongue falls from the roof of my mouth as I fall asleep. I just got an idea. I am going to try to glue my tongue to the roof of my mouth tonight with denture adhevise. Has anyone here ever tried this? I did a little research and adhevise with zinc can be harmful so I bought a few without zinc. I have tried the method that gets talked about around here, by putting headbands around my cheeks but it didnt work. I tried using The Eliminator sleep cushion, which is a more comfortable neck brace. I have also thought about getting some sort of headband or other kind of cloth and rolling it into a little ball and putting it under my tongue, but that sounds like it could turn into a choking hazard. I have also ordered the AirWaav device for sleep and recovery to try in conjuction with my CPAP as well. I have tried using full face masks and they have caused too much TMJ pain, so my only option is to try nasal masks, just have to get the chipmunk cheeks under control. Gluing my stubborn tongue seems to be my only option at this point, and it actually gives me a little hope in treating my sleep apnea. Ill will report back tomorrow or in the next few days.

Isn't that a choking hazard?
Which models?

Re: Gluing tongue to roof of mouth
I figure if I just squirt some towards the front and middle part of my tongue and just push it to the roof of my mouth before it leaks into my throat, I should be fine.
I have tried the F20 with memory foam and without, Vitera, Dreamwear hybrid full face, Evora hybrid full face, Simplus.

It's a pretty decent device. Follow the fitting instructions carefully. Do NOT bite down too hard.

Re: Gluing tongue to roof of mouth
Im glad to hear. Does it keep your tongue on the roof of your mouth and from falling back? Does it keep your jaw from falling back as well? Im starting to think my tongue is the main culprit in my sleep apnea, if I could get it under control I can make CPAP work better. If my tongue is the main culprit that would explain why CPAP has been difficult to get relief from, but I have no ENT willing to study my anatomy enough to be able to really tell after seeing 3. Anyway, I am excited to try the AirWaav, glad to hear it works for you.

no doesn't work for the jaw. I use a soft cervical collar to help with that.imrdyman wrote: ↑Tue Dec 02, 2025 7:36 pmIm glad to hear. Re: Gluing tongue to roof of mouth
Ok maybe ill strap on the Eliminator. I just got the Airwaav today, any special tips/info based on your experience to get a good fit? Did you use the microwave method or the boil method?

Re: Gluing tongue to roof of mouth
boiled it. website says you can place your tongue either ON the device or under it, that this will occur naturally. I don't recall if that's true(I've had this for several months now) but it's seems to work better for me on top.
I clean it every morning with polident tablets and that seems to work out well.
let us know how it goes for you.
