OSCAR or others
I am 3 months into this CPAP journey and making headway, mainly due to friends, patient forums and a tiny little to the DME support staff. Not to the doctor. I just started using an SD card in my Resmed Airsense 11 for use on another forum. The data system is not OSCAR. I like it because it is "free" but it is certainly proprietary. OSCAR is open-source and none of my tech cronies are comfortable with that. In order to have intelligent discussions on thi patient forum, some kind of data collection/analysis is necessary. This is one sure thing I have learned in my 3 months. So...if I don't want to use Oscar, is this forum going to work for me? Suggestions? Thanks all

Why secretive? People who learn the best from forums are open.
Maybe you merely overlooked mentioning the app's name?

Re: OSCAR or others
Getting back to the original question...
Oscar is indeed open source, but if you download from the official Oscar site, you will get the genuine article. Oscar has been developed (from an earlier program called Sleepyhead) by a group of programmers who also happen to be apneacs. I've been using Oscar for years with no problems. https://www.sleepfiles.com/OSCAR/
The "other" program sounds like SleepHQ, which is an Australian outfit run by a respiratory tech (Nicko) and his mate (software developer) Adam. The free version gives a reasonably complete set of facilities, but the paid version is more complete and gives full access to their forum and other perks. https://www.sleephq.com/
If you're concerned about data safety, you should know that Oscar retains all your data on your local hard drive, and nothing is uploaded to a distant server. With SleepHQ, the data is uploaded to their server and is retained there for a month (free version) or permanently (paid version).
Oscar is a somewhat more comprehensive program, but SleepHQ is much easier to use. Importantly, SleepHQ allows you to create secure links to your data, which can then be shared eg at a forum like this. I greatly prefer SleepHQ for reviewing people's data, as it allows you to pan and zoom around the charts, while Oscar only gives a static image / screen shot.
My recommendation for somebody new to CPAP is to use SleepHQ - it's a lot easier for the rest of us to interrogate whatever data you choose to share.
