Hi all,
I've largely got my CPAP settings down, after a year and a half of struggle. One final tweak I am working on is EPR 1 vs EPR 2. EPR 2 seems to offer less flow limitations, but I sometimes feel less rested at EPR 2 (also happens with EPR = 1, but seems less frequent). Attached are my OSCAR results from two typical nights at EPR 1 and 2 (Oct 4 is EPR = 1).
Just wondering if anyone could offer insights into this consideration? TIA!

Re: EPR 1 vs EPR 2
1. Why are you limiting your max pressure to 11.2? You are spending much of the night at 11.2. Your pressure most likely needs to go higher for good therapy. I would change the max pressure to 15.0. The machine will not raise the pressure any higher than needed.
2. You minimum pressure is set to 7.0. Yet, you spend almost no time below 8.0. I would change that to 8 immediately.
BTW, a free account at SleepHQ.com is easier for you to use and more informative for those of us viewing your data.

I had the max pressure higher in the past (I believe around 14 for a while), but experienced more CAs. I believe another member had suggested capping the ceiling pressure lower to manage the CAs (my AHI is still fairly low, despite the low max pressure).ChicagoGranny wrote: ↑Mon Oct 06, 2025 12:09 pm1. As far as a min pressure - just wondering what the benefit is with upping the min to 8 (if the machine can go there when needed anyway)? Does allowing the min of 7 cause some of those peaks/trough swings as seen in my chart?

Re: EPR 1 vs EPR 2
This is one of the biggest myths in APAP.
Yes, auto-titrating can go where it's needed, but it takes time, and needs to experience events before it adjusts. During this time your not being adequately treated. A higher minimum also can prevent events.
Increasing your minimum can flatten your trace and reduce the need for for it to hit some of the higher maximums.

Can you provide the link to that discussion? I would like to see the data on which this suggestion was based.
