Clear Airway Apnea
Clear Airway Apnea
Hello! So I (38M) was just diagnosed with sleep apnea and have been using a CPAP for a week. I recently discovered that I can view my sleep data on sleephq, and what I saw was concerning. Based on what I can see, it looks like I might have central sleep apnea. I only have one night worth of data, but any second opinions are welcome! https://sleephq.com/public/e85e2d31-245 ... c2c2e63808
Re: Clear Airway Apnea
How is/was your sleep quality for that night? Wake up often or sleep soundly for the most part?
You might want to read this thread. I think the bulk of your centrals/CAs flagged are post arousal and not real asleep centrals and if that is the case then you DON'T have central sleep apnea.

Re: Clear Airway Apnea
I felt like I woke up quite a bit, so not the best sleep. Thank you for attaching that thread, it was very helpful. Looking at my flagged apneas, it looks like almost all of them come after a spike in breathing. On a side note, do you know if "leak rate" mess with sleep quality? My nasal cradle appears to be quite leaky, but I swear it isn't leaking when I wake up.
Re: Clear Airway Apnea
agree with Pugsy. My 2 thoughts:
1. pressure setting needs to go higher: I guess 11-12 cm to start with
2. leaks need better control. You might consider full face mask as they generally work better with higher pressures.
3. pay attention to flow limitations as well.

Re: Clear Airway Apnea
I think it is too soon to be talking pressure increase.
Need to get a better handle on leaks first and find some way to get more solid sleep and ONLY THEN worry about pressures.
And yes.....those leaks are big enough to impact sleep quality and cause arousals (you may or may not remember them).
