Anyone use hose lift or hose buddy system?

Post by sleepingbetter0209 » Sat May 03, 2025 10:12 am

I recently found that I was inconvenienced to say the least by my trusty bedside companion, my CPAP hose. It lies next to me at the same height as my head and usually stays out of my way- Last night I experienced rain-out for the first time in 3 months. I also use a hose cover to insulate the hose . I heard that placing the hose higher above my head helps keep it out of the way and distributes air better using the gravity of the hose above you. Can anyone suggest a system like Hose buddy or something else that could work?

Small pillow to keep it where you want it? Sounds too easy - am I missing something?

Thank you, sir. I'll pass that observation on to my promo-material people. They probably cleaned that shot up with A.I. or something. :)

That Cordoba Stage nylon string I'm playing there is sure sweet for solo gigging!

For hose management for my home PAP use, I went low tech by using an old belt around the headboard of the bed and letting a bit of it stick up enough for me to run the hose over it so that it allows it to hang from above enough to attach to the top of my nasal-pillows mask gently. The belt is the same color as the headboard, so the wife doesn't mind it being left there 24/7.

I have a pillow on edge against the headboard (wall) behind my sleep pillow.

The tube runs tucked in over the top above my head and descends down over my shoulder...looping to the mask fitting. Simple.

This is what I use, and it works great!

The only downside is that this thing needs to be mounted to the wall. Other than that, it's near perfect.

Attached to the wall above my head, I have a command strip and velcro holding my hose above my head.

It's role is purely to stop/reduce entanglements.

The role of lowering the CPAP below one's head is *way* overstated. For it to be helpful the hose would need to be at a somewhat sharp continuous angle, from ones mask to their machines, with no dips.

Add to that, hanging ones hose, would contribute to rain-out, as any moisture that condenses after the high-pint would run towards the mask.

you know, I got to thinking about your problem. I had a similar problem here a while back. I asked folks on here what I could do to get rid of my rain out because, like you, it seemed to have come from nowhere. but I tried everything recommended and nothing worked.

now, I don't have a full face mask like yours. I have the P10 nasal mask. what worked for me and my mask was, I cleaned the venting ports thoroughly. and that seemed to do the trick! it stopped immediately and I haven't had rain out since.

maybe give that a crack before spending money on a hose management system?

good luck!

I just got this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B089W44YZR?re ... asin_title

I use a p30i, I like not messing with the tube and it helps prevent leaks when I roll around. I don't know how well it would work with a front entry mask, but the concept is great for top entry masks. I don't know if this is the best one, but it does work. I think the main thing that needs to drive the choice is how it attaches, different beds will require different mounting methods.

I've been using the above hose management system for over a year now, never experienced a rainout event, never.

YMMV

I use this one. Hooks to bedside table.
it says a lot of people return it, but I’ve had it for almost 3 years and it works just fine for me. I like that. It has a little stretchy rubber band to give a little bit of bounce if I needed it.

When I travel, I use a command hook.

No where did I suggest that a hose management system can *cause* rainout, no where.

The OP already has an occasional rain-out problem.

I was pretty clear stating, "hanging ones hose, would contribute to rain-out, as any moisture that condenses after the high-pint would run towards the mask"

I have a lamp mounted on the wall with a swivel, and I jury rigged a hose lift system with a plastic clothesline pulley.

When I go to a hotel there's usually a headboard, and I use a bunch of looped rubber bands OR a dollar tree elastic headband to hold my hose up.

These command hooks are pretty sweet and perfect size.

Prob don’t need the six pack but you probably get the drift.
