Curious about Oscar breathing waveforms

Post by JOinPA » Sat Jan 11, 2025 11:20 am

I have been getting great sleep for a long time, and nothing about CPAP seems to bother me, luckily, so no complaints. But I'm curious about Oscar waveforms. Some YouTube videos with Oscar demos in them show a breathing waveform that is pretty rounded on top and some say that is good to see. Mine tend to be a bit chopped flat on top, and I'm wondering why? No complaints at all, just trying to figure out what causes the waveform to be rounded or chopped flat. My stats are fine. Below is a 1-month summary report for December 2024 for Oscar. I don't know why the min says 0, it's 9 based on my APAP range of 9-13. My average is about 10 my 95% is about 11.

Below is a screenshot of my flow rate from a good night with an AHI of 0.24, with steady pressure for that segment, around 11 I think. You can see the chopped tops.

Again, I have zero complaints or problems, I'm just curious about Oscar and what I'm seeing. Based on how I'm sleeping and feeling, I'm not worried about my waveform shape or anything.
Initial diagnosis = severe, current stats (02/09/2025): weight 220 lbs, Airsense 10 Autoset with ClimateLine Air tubing, F40 mask, Climate and tube temp = Auto, CPAP pressure = 13, ramp = off, EPR = 3

Flat-topped wave forms means Flow Limitations. Bump your pressure up a bit to get a nice rounded curve to them.
