Hi Everyone,
I did my sleeping test 3 weeks ago. The result showed 38 for AHI. Then I stared .my Cpap therapy 2 weeks ago. First week, the mask didn't work for me well. I had over 30 L leak, but AHI was between 0.5 to 1.1 whole week.
Then I went back to the clinic and I was given a different full face mask and they reduced the pressure temporary so I can get used to the device.
This week the mask was much better and I had 7L leaks last week but AHI was between 1.1 and 1.8.
Reading other posts here, I couldn't find such a massive drop from the day one. I still wake up couple of times. And I feel more tired than before. I think it's because the mask wakes me up as well!
Now I'm wondering if the test result was correct at the first place ?
Is it normal that AHI drop from 38 to 1.2 right away ?

Perfectly reasonable if your machine settings, mask type, and mask fit are dialed-in.
Either you're breathing well or you're not; it's not like you're waiting for a new medicine to build up a concentration in your body.

Compare the CPAP to a pair of eye glasses. Without them you could be almost blind, but as soon as you put them on...you can see.

As others have said, yes, it's normal to see your AHI drop like this when your machine's settings are right for you.
And as for feeling more rested, that will come as you get used to the new experience. You can speed up your adaptation by using your machine during the day or evening. It's best to set it up somewhere outside your bedroom and use it for a couple of hours while you watch TV, read, or use your devices.
