Husbands new Airsense 11

Hello, can anyone help...My husbands airsense 11 does an odd "test" when turned on. It is checking the fit of the mask I think. It is inanely annoying. I have been looking online for 2 days on how to disable that and I cannot find it. He says he won't use it anymore if I can't get rid of that. We know how to get into the clinician menu but I can't find how to disable it. just a button to actually test the fit

Please help
oh and mask he is using is an air touch F20 large

Go into the clinical menu setup area and tell us EXACTLY what all the settings are.
Also can you explain what it is doing that is so annoying????
Mask fit shouldn't engage without a person actually turning it on. There is no setting that I am aware of that automatically goes to mask fit test.

it is annoying because it is SO loud. and for him it kind of takes away your breath for about 5 seconds or so (I tried it and it even takes away my breath and I have used CPAP since 1997

oh and his pressure is 7

Wondering if he might want to try a 'Ramp' setting (if not already set) which would increase the pressure slowly over a period of time, rather than start at the minimum which may feel strong when it starts. The AS11 appears to have an 'Auto' setting for ramp and this may be something to try first rather guess what might work. On my DreamStation 2 I think I've had it set for something like a pressure of 4 cmH2O for 15 min and first started it barely feels like any pressure is present. I no long use ramp as I've gotten used to not using it.

thanks for the idea, but he actually hates the ramp. I had to turn it off. really more than anything, we are just not used to so much noise when first turned on. it's like it is all just going out the relief "holes" my luna doesn't make any noise as long as i have my mask on

I originally started using one because the wood in the house would creak when the seasons changed. The white noise app covered that up. To my surprise, it also covers all the CPAP sounds. I use the "brown noise" option. There is no need for me to have it at a high volume. Using a burner phone would save wear on your regular phone.

we are already running oxygen concentrators so they provide white noise. the noise of the cpap is only for a few seconds, but it is enough to wake me up if I go to bed before him. I talked to the DME a few minutes ago. there does not seem to be a way to turn it off unfortunately. I truly appreciate everyone trying to help. this place is just as friendly as I remember

To enter the clinical menu:

From the Home screen, press two fingers anywhere on the screen
for 3 seconds to access the Clinical Home screen.
From this screen, you can access:
SETTINGS: Set up or adjust therapy settings for the patient.
SLEEP VIEW: Track the patients sleep health
EXIT: Return to the Home screen (Patient View)

The machine should not go into the Mask Fitting function when the machine is turned on.

Try turning off Smart Start and see whether that helps. Plan B is my Plan B for everything: try unplugging the machine, waiting 60 seconds, then plugging it back in.

Does the AS11 make the noise if ramp is enabled? It may just take experimenting with the ramp settings a bit to find a ramp setting he doesn't hate, but reduces or eliminates the initial noise. My DreamStation 2 without ramp enabled does put out a strong flow of air when it first comes on, sometimes blows out the mask, and does make some noise out the mask vent holes until settles back to my breathing.

If his pressure is 7 cm/H2O, perhaps try a ramp start pressure of around 4, 5, or 6 cm/H2O for a 5 minute duration. This may be enough to not feel 'starved' for air, but not give a large air flow at the initial start.

we did do this, and it didn't make a difference. thanks for the idea though!

There is a diagnostic test it runs to check if it's making an unusual noise... you probably want to turn that off.

Device Diagnostic can be set to run Daily, Weekly, every 2 weeks, or it can
be switched off. (page 9)

My Airsense 11 AutoSet does not do that. Let me poke around mine to see if I can help.

Let’s compare clinical settings. I will skip the mask & hose because mine is different.
