Resmed S9

Post by zeak » Sat Jan 13, 2024 11:07 am

I've been using my Airsense S10 for home and travel and am getting tired of the space it takes in my luggage. I tried the Z1 but it's way too noisy, and all the hacks to minimize the noise have failed. I see that the S9 is small and was well liked, but it's now discontinued. My question is if anybody knows of a reputable place to buy a refurbished version that I can use for the 2-3 weeks a year that I will travel. There are plenty of sites selling the S9 but i don't know which to trust. Thanks.

I've never used this place myself, but other people on line seem to have had good experiences with it:

A key question before you buy: how many run hours does the machine have on it?

Thanks for the tip about the run hours! There are 4 models on the site and only one has the hours listed. I'll call them on Mon and see if i can get info about the hours.

At secondwindcpap.com any used machines will have less than 2,000 hours because they won't buy a machine from someone with more than 2 K hours.

Thats interesting because they list one as "under 5000 hours".

That might be one of the very special high end machines like an ASV machine or something.

If you go to their website where they say "we will buy your machine" it used to say not to bother if the machine you want to sell them had over 2000 hours.

Or maybe they changed their requirements. It's been a couple of years since I contacted them about selling a machine that I was looking to sell but back then they were non negotiable about machines with more than 2 K hours on them.
They simply said don't bother.

I have an S9 and an AS10. The carrier bags are about the same size, A CPAP carrier bad is made to contain the following:
  • machine
  • humidifier
  • power supply
  • hose
  • mask
And to help you transport them safely.

I don't see how getting an S9 will save you much space.

Thanks. How is the noise of the S9 vs the A10? I used my Z1 last night and didn't like it.

When i looked up the specs of the 2 machines, this is what i found:

S9: 5.5 × 6 × 3.4 in
A10: 4.57 x 10.04 x 5.91 in

I usually pack my cpap in my carry on backpack or in a hard shell checked suitcase since I'm trying to minimize what i have to carry. I figured that size difference would be worth it for me.

Are you planning on not using/taking the S9 humidifier?

Exactly. I can live without the humidifier for a few days.
