Claustrophobic temp

Post by Lc123 » Mon Dec 18, 2023 9:19 pm

I’m new to the cpap world… does it make sense that the temp of the air makes me feel a little claustrophobic? Where do you all keep yours set on?

temperature is very much an individual thing. if the air feels "thick", start experimenting by lowering the temp. it's pretty much trial and error.

btw, when you get the chance, pls fill out your equipment profile. once you do, your machine and mask will appear in each of your posts, as mine does below.

good luck!

Yes! I don't like warm air blowing on my face. Except when I was sick (warm humidified air really does help an upper respiratory infection) I always kept the humidifier on a lower temperature. And my first machine was a Philips Respironics System One with a known manufacturer's defect that they never addressed. The humidifier crapped out entirely after 3 years. So I got used to sleeping without it. And now I never use the humidifier except when I have an upper respiratory infection (RARELY).

I have had some irritated nasal passages in the dry heat of summer or when we are heating the house a lot in cold, dry weather. I will use "passover humidity" (I joined CPAPtalk around the Jewish holiday of Passover and thought everyone was talking about some religious accommodation    ) which is just putting water in the humidifier chamber but no heat when that happens. Otherwise, the humidifier is off and empty. And I love the cool air except when the vent is blowing on me on a really cold night.
