Sorry to start a new topic, but it’s hard to search for “back” or “back sleeping” without everything showing the word “back” but not this application of the word. “Get back on topic!”
So anyway, my elderly mom — I started a topic on her a while back when she had a Luna machine and things weren’t going that well. Thanks for the help. It’s kind of a different topic now, totally different situation in some ways. We still need to treat her severe apnea though.
Since then, switching to a Resmed, using Oscar, and using that data to push through for another sleep study and more attention from another doc, we made some progress. Her scrip changed a little bit, still using the Resmed auto set 10 that we got to replace Luna, and much improvement. BUT the main thing we have learned is that she just can’t sleep on her back. Her apnea is so bad on her back, I don’t if any pressure or machine can break through it. On her side, her AHI stays under 5 with the APAP. This seems to be making some much needed difference in turning around some of her cognitive decline and lack of energy.
We tried a special pillow for the purpose, but she pushes it aside. It seems like maybe some kind of special clothing with bumps on the back or something, and buttons on the back so she can’t take it off.
This must be a problem that more people have and there must be solutions out there?

Re: Help for mom’s back sleep
the solution for me is to use a "fanny pack" with an empty plastic pop bottle zipped up inside. the combo of the lump and the crackle noise will deter me from rolling over on my back.cpvtnh wrote: ↑Thu Nov 23, 2023 1:58 pm

eta-the forum search function leaves much to be desired. a more robust way of searching the site is-
cpaptalk.com subject of search and make that subject of search as detailed as possible.
